I was down in Austin, Tx. for SXSW and surrounded by all types of dope style flooding shows and taking over sixth street. While the industry members, fans and event staff members were all flashing their dope pieces, the artists really caught my eye.

I took a stop by Nice Kicks for their showcase and what exclusives you didn’t see on the shelves were present on the feet of the artist. Nas took a stop by the legendary spot in the yet to be released Jordan 5Lab3 Retro 3s and kept it classic with the starter snapback.

During the actual showcase, I saw Gunplay before his set and he kept it simple in a tank, some jeans and Nike ACG boots, accessorized by his larger in person MMG chain and tattoos. While taking a moment to interview Ty Dolla $ign, I couldn’t help but notice the classic number eight Los Angeles lakers Kobe Bryant jersey hanging from his NHL jacket. The jacket was starter! Straight had me wanting to borrow it. To make his fit complete the purple bucket sat low on his head.

In a interesting bit of information, Ty Dolla let us know he was bringing members of Taylor Gang and YG on stage with him. While admiring YG’s My Krazy Life crew neck and Chevy Woods style, the scene stealer was the surprise of Trinidad James whose red Gucci belt could only be outshined by his Red Octobers. The Red Octobers grabbed all my attention with the glisten of the gold shoelace tips.

The night before at the G.O.O.D. Music showcase, I didn’t know whether I should admire Teyana Taylor or her Infrared 23 Retro 6 Jordans that she let stand apart from the rest of her sheer and black attire. During Big Sean’s set, he represented the Adidas brand in classic white shell toes. Once the Detroit player removed his jacket he displayed a flannel shirt coupled with a classic Wrestlemania tee.

The show that had every one talking was the reunion of The Throne. When Jay Z and Kanye West hit the stage they recovered their WTT style to go with their elaborate set. Kanye brought back the rather kilt as Jay was fitted in a leather American flag piece.

With her surprise appearance, Erykah Badu brought a variety of styles together as a black t-shirt, flannel button down and a tribal accented orange cardigan to go with her baggy pants completed her layered look. Throw on her goldĀ necklaceĀ and her wild afro and the soulful singer provided an aura that could only be described as Baduism.

Rick Ross took a break from his full length furs and silk shirts, probably because of the warmth of Texas, and took over the Fader Fort in a DGK shirt. The biggest boss didn’t go massive with the chain like his MMG counterpart Gunplay, however he sported two modest gold chains.
