Rihanna To Be Awarded With ‘Icon Award’ At American Music Awards

Already containing an impressive resume, Rihanna will be awarded the first-ever “Icon Award” at upcoming American Music Awards, the LA Times reports.

“The first-ever Icon Award was created to honor and artists whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level,’ show producer Larry Klein said. “Rihanna’s iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and bestselling artists of all time.”

Rihanna has a impressive resume that holds achievements such as seven albums in just as many years, 50 million albums and 180 million singles sold and over 4 billion views on her videos on YouTube and Vevo.

Rihanna is also up for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist in pop or rock, Favorite Female Artist in soul and R&B as well as Favorite Album for soul and R&B.

The “We Found Love” singer will also perform at the awards show which will air live on November 24 from the Nokia Theatre.
