Remy Ma Collaborations

The small crop of female rappers all vying for the highly coveted No. 1 spot may be the reason we don’t see too many femcees on wax together. Veteran spitter Remy Ma blames the very fact women are often pitted against each other, making it harder for any lady lyricist to be successful.

“What I think happens with females in this game, they tend to allow other people to pit us against each other. I’ve said this before. They make it seem like there can only be one female,” she said in an interview with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex. “It can be a thousand guys that’s putting out music and rapping and doing what they do but when it comes to females in this hip-hop business, they make it seem like it can only be one, and if there’s more than one then, ‘Alright, y’all better be at each other’s throats every chance that you get.’”

Instead of exiting prison with a plan to attack the rap game, it appears the “Conceited” rapper is looking to bring back some of that girl power by reaching out to the current leading femcees for a record.“I think it would really be dope if we could get like a ill chick record with everybody who’s doing what they’re doing right now. Me, maybe Iggy Azalea, Nicki, like just do like a nice little collabo.”

Just days out of the pen, Remy hasn’t skipped a beat already hopping in the studio with DJ Khaled and putting out her own remix of “They Don’t Love You No More.” While the two have been working together, the Bronx-native isn’t dropping any clues on whether she plans to sign with Khaled’s We The Best Music.

“I’ve been talking to Khaled since I was still incarcerated, and he has a lot of great ideas and things he would like to do. I didn’t sign with anyone yet,” she said. “I don’t know where I wanna sign yet. I just know I go so much sh-t I wanna say, and so much great songs that I think the world need to hear.”
