Nicki Minaj The Breakfast Club

It was important for the first record cut off Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint to be just her. “Pills N Potions” pulls on some of the heart strings with soulful lyrics telling a clear, emotional story.

“I was just reflecting on people in my life that have come and gone. I was just thinking like what does it all mean? What the hell does it all mean,” Nicki explained.

Not firing shots at anyone in particular, the Myx Fusions rep is taking on her own personal battles and putting them on wax. Her third LP comes with no label, it is simply good music. “This [The Pinkprint] is a meaningful body of work and I’m tired of labeling it. I’m not going to ever label my music again. You can tell from “Pills N Potions” that I’m just creating music. The most important thing for me is to keep it truthful and to keep it honest,” she said.

Her return to a more natural look has generated plenty of buzz as the elaborate wigs and loud outfits have diminished. For the rapper, it is all coming full circle.

“It didn’t just come about now, I just always thought with my third album I would want to go back to my real hair,” she said.

As one of the few femcees reigning supreme in the game, the self-proclaimed Queen of Hip Hop laughed off Forbes‘ insight on what female artist is taking over hip hop. “Listen, all Forbes needs to worry about is my finances and when I’m going to be selling Myx Fusions for $250 million. We rely on hip hop connoisseurs for that information.”
