Nicki Minaj took a trip backstage at Powerhouse 2013 to talk to The Breakfast Club crew about her upcoming album, revealing Halloween costume and her feelings on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse.

“I’m probably in the top five of niggas he did mention, so go and do your m-tha f-ckin’ research homeboy,” said Minaj while laughing. “But, I also feel like, maybe, he’s one of those, like, respectful gentlemen that probably wanted to feel like ‘Oh, I didn’t want to say a female’s name.’ Or maybe he just don’t think the kid is ill. But the kid know the kid is ill, so I don’t really need to be on nobody shit.”

She added: “I’m the Queen of New York, I’m the King of New York. Let me tell you why: Platinum albums. Albums, plural. Number one in five m-tha f-uckin’ countries, b-tch! Don’t play with me, you better respect my m-tha f-ckin’ gangsta b-tch! When you got an album that goes No. 1 in Japan and in the UK and Australia, and America, at the same m-tha f-ckin’ time, and in Canada, you can speak my m-tha f-ckin’ name b-tch!”

When asked about why some feel she’s gone deeper into pop music instead of rap, Nicki took time to say her piece.

“That’s the forbidden word, please don’t say it anymore,” said Minaj. “I don’t know. I always had my plan to do that. I never intended on continuing to do pop. I just experimented and then I was going to get back on my third album.” – Keith Reid-Cleveland
