Nicki Minaj finally releases the visuals to her emotionally charged “Pills N Potions” after building the anticipation with two lyric videos. Guest starring The Game as her silent love interest, the Diane Martel-directed video keeps it simple with visual effects by Geoffrey Lillemon.

Martel is no stranger to working with the Barbie as she directed the video for her pop hit, “Moment For Life.” With help from Lillemon, the visuals include effects of liquid metals streaming from Nicki’s eyes, The Game’s head being held in her hand and animated bunnies. The Barb adorns her own bunny ears, rocks pasties and smokes a cigarette to ease the pain.

The Young Money rapstress is currently working on crafting music that cannot be categorized for her upcoming album The Pinkprint. “This [The Pinkprint] is a meaningful body of work and I’m tired of labeling it. I’m not going to ever label my music again. You can tell from “Pills N Potions” that I’m just creating music. The most important thing for me is to keep it truthful and to keep it honest,” she told The Breakfast Club.

While we may not be sure who the Queens MC is talking about, “Pills N Potions” is very honest and most vulnerable we’ve seen her.

“That song to me was forgiveness, understanding that everybody gets mad,” she said in a sit-down with Kelly and Michael. “I don’t think there’s ever a person that I’ve loved that I no longer love I just may not be able to live with you or have you in my life and that’s what the song is about.”
