One of the most failed resolutions for every new year is diet and exercise. To help keep you on track, the NBA is kicking off Live Healthy Week where the NBA Fit Team will join celebrity chefs, community members and partners to highlight the importance of healthy living through three simple pillars: be active, eat healthily and play together. It was rumored that they might call on health professionals to give their personal opinions on the best nutrition, diet, and health supplements such as private label softgels and more mainstream supplements to promote healthy living. However, this has yet to be confirmed. Taking care of your health does not just mean fitness it also is related to something that may not be widely known – oral health. We all know to visit the dentist and take care of our teeth but people may not know that bad oral health can affect the body too. If teeth are neglected it can cause issues that may mean implants or veneers later on in life, porcelain veneers do require teeth to be filed down, but it’s a painless process for the recipient, even after this oral hygiene must be kept consistent as it is still important. Health is wealth.

Challenging yourself to a week of healthy diet and exercise may be more manageable and realistic than committing an entire year – much like Bey and Jay’s vegan challenge. The players all have rigorous exercise regimes and diets, but also invest in equipment and supplements from the likes of steelsupplements.com to ensure that they get the best results and are at their peak when playing. If you fall off track a little, don’t beat yourself up. You have to remember that these players eat, sleep and breathe fitness because it’s literally their career.

As part of the healthy living campaign, people are also being encouraged to make some healthy changes to their daily habits. Giving up smoking is a large focus of the week, with smokers being offered alternatives like CBD vape oil instead of more harmful cigarettes and tobacco. Vaping is widely believed by health professionals to be a much less dangerous habit to smoking, despite the risks of nicotine addiction. Whilst nicotine is still present in many vapes, CBD oil is becoming increasingly popular due to its health benefits for people with anxiety. Vapes also contain no harmful substances such as tar, meaning respiratory illness is much less likely.

The 2014 NBA Fit Team includes Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Tyson Chandler (New York Knicks), Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks), Ryan Anderson (New Orleans Pelicans), Brandon Bass (Boston Celtics), Wes Matthews (Portland Trail Blazers) Otto Porter (Washington Wizards), Greivis Vasquez (Toronto Raptors) and WNBA players Tamika Catchings, Nneka Ogwumike and Cappie Pondexter. The fit team will provide fitness tips via video as well as deliciously healthy recipes courtesy of celebrity chefs Roblé Ali, Mario Batali, Marc Forgione and more.

To further encourage healthy eating, the league is teaming up with Walmart to launch NBA Fit Food. Keep up with Live Healthy Week, ending January 10, on NBA.com/NBAFit.
