Well, this is quite interesting. Marvel Comics has just announced that from now on, future stories from the popular Thor series will feature main character Thor as a woman instead of a man. But, Marvel has already made it very clear that Thor will still be the Thor we know and love.

According to the press release, “This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before.” Good to know that the strong bravado that Thor entails will still be in tact and even better, she will still wield Thor’s weapon of choice, the Uru Hammer.

Thor’s original character was introduced to the comic world in 1962 and this gender change will make Thor only the 8th female character in Marvel’s history. And don’t think that this is just temporary change — Marvel says, “she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!” The news was first broken on ABC’s The View earlier today.
