The future documentary of Sir Lankin beauty M.I.A has been resumed after being blacklisted. This past July, a short teaser hit the net featuring interviews from Diplo, Kanye West, Spike Lee and more but was pulled immediately by Roc Nation. The original Steve Loveridge-directed doc was suppose to showcase the life and times of M.I.A., including hours of candid footage and interviews from close friends. It seems as though since the project was picked back up, the original director seemingly quit then later rejoined the project.

Being named a musical genius and magnet for controversy, it comes as no surprise many pushed for this film to be resumed. M.I.A wants you to know this isn’t going to be your normal boring documentary. In a recent interview with PitchFork she says, “They’re all interesting things you’re not going to get from a Beyoncé documentary. It’s just so complicated. I can’t even get my head around that.”

There is no set release date for the documentary yet, but her new album Matangi is in stores now. – Shanae Hatchett
