Kobe Bryant Created 'Carter V Season' Campaign

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is not only teasing Lil Wayne‘s upcoming Tha Carter V, but he also is the man behind the marketing plan. Lil Wayne shared to ESPN that the idea behind “Carter V Season” was all the doing of Black Mamba.

Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated and final solo effort already had a significant amount of buzz before one of the greatest basketball players in history lended his Twitter account to the promotion, but it is now known to be apart of a full marketing scheme.

While speaking of his relationship with athletes, Weezy disclosed his first meeting with Kobe, in which they found out they were fans of each other, before having a personal friend ask Bryant to share Tha Carter V‘s promotional image.

“‘Carter V Season’ was all Kobe. He came up with it. I saw that and thought, that’s dope as hell, so that’s what we’re calling the [album] campaign,” Lil Wayne shared. “I thanked him. Then we thought about Floyd.”

Boxer Floyd Mayweather has also used his social media account in efforts of promoting projects for Lil Wayne.

During the piece with ESPN, Wayne also detailed his upcoming album to be about growth, his sports alliance and a brief view on Donald Sterling. Check out the piece now on ESPN.com and coming soon to the ESPN Magazine.
