If you’re like the rest of the hip-hop world, then you’ve most likely been dying to hear something new from Kendrick Lamar. The TDE rap superstar has taken a pretty long break since he released good kid m.A.A.d. city almost two years ago, and now fans are demanding his next project.

Well, the wait is almost over. Kendrick is putting the finishing touches on his follow-up to his classic album, and is giving the full scoop on what to expect inside the pages Complex Magazine‘s August/September 2014 issue.

“This is truly a blessing from a higher power,” the rapper said. “And as long as I understand that there’s really no limitations to what I can do. Everything is forward with me. When I’m in the studio I’m looking for creativity I haven’t matched yet, a feeling I haven’t felt. It’s a high. When you look at people like Jay Z, Nas, Dr. Dre, these people are established, but they love music and they love that high. You always want that feeling of creativity.”

K. Dot explains his focus and even going back and fourth with super producer Pharrell in a moment of doubt for his upcoming project.“I was on the tour bus going back and forth on the text with Pharrell,” he explained. “I asked him, ‘You think they gon’ get it?’ And he told me, ‘Don’t ever doubt yourself again. Always be aware but don’t ever mistake your first mind, your input of where your heart is at.’”

With doubts aside, the self-proclaimed King of New York gives his insights on the impact his “Control” verse had as well as the infamous Macklemore Grammy text. Read the full interview over at Complex.
