I’ve been waiting for this contest since it was announced! Channel Orange in my eyes changed so many people’s opinions and Frank symbolizes hope for many people. It’s not about what he’s into in his private life, he makes amazing music and nothing could change my opinion on him. He’s letting people express themselves and being a great role model.

The CD was amazing and Karen Civil, you keep me update on awesomeness everyday! Thanks for your consideration!

i love channel orange because it offers so much diversity. Yes its frank’s classic r&b sound but the production on songs like Lost and Super Rich Kids give a cool/laid back feel to the album. His lyrics are phenomenal (not surprising) and its obvious that he puts his heart and soul into his work. I like that I can bump this album when I’m in a good mood riding around or if I’m feeling down to lift me up. Truly the best kind of music is the kind that makes you feel, and this is what Channel Orange does for me.

I love that Frank didn’t hold back on expressing his sexuality by making the love interest in tracks such as Bad Religion and Forrest Gump ambiguous. I love that Super Rich Kids and Sweet Life are packed with real truths about so many young people in Long Island. I love that Andre 3000 is on the album and that Pink Matter is such an amazing song. I love that Frank seized the opportunity to make his debut album one to go down in history. He really did change the game by coming clean about his sexuality and I’m sure his decision to be open about his life on his album will help a lot of kids out there feel more comfortable about themselves. Oh, and I LOVE that he put out a 10-minute single with Pyramids, which is arguably one of the best songs of the year!

  4. I love the fearlessness of the lyrics and the meaning behind the name of the album: being liberated and free.

  5. oh_mysheek says:

I love the fact that Frank Ocean was secure enough & had enough confidence in his self to let it be know to millions, billions of people that he was in love with a man. You don’t see that type of courage in the industry these days. This alone adds so much & makes some of the songs on Channel Orange really powerful& emotional for me. Although, Channel Orange was not as good as Nostalgia Ultra, i still love & would recommend anyone to buy the album because of records like Sweet Life, Pyramids & Pink Matter. Frank Ocean is a musical genius.

  6. Channel Orange is a great album. Been waiting for a while and Frank delivers well. The one thing i loved about this album is the free spirt & love frank ocean puts into his music. His music always connects with the audience and it has such a postive vibe.

  7. Robert says:

The diversity of music within one album is amazing. His writing is ridiculous, crazy metaphors. Awesome features on this album. The sound choices we’re perfect for his style. Overall this album will be a classic, and many more from this talented artist!

  8. GrammarJunkie says:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how Channel Orange is an overall feel good CD. It definitely shows how Frank has grown both personally and as an artist.

  9. lily million says:

The best thing about this album. Is that it 100 all the way & its a beautiful album to just sit and mediate too .& when your having a one of them days. Orange will have you. Fierce

  10. TheWeezyEffect says:

I think that Frank Ocean is brave and set an extremely hard statement coming out as bi-sexual, this album tops it all off. Channel Orange isn’t even available in my country but u have listened to it on YouTube and it is possibly the best album of the year!

  11. Nsikak says:

Channel Orange is by far one of the most immersive albums I’ve ever experienced. You’re literally taken on a ride in Frank Ocean’s world. He manages to tell stories about love, crack fiends, cleopatra and rich kids and somehow segway each one into the other without leaving you with a ‘wtf did I just listen to’ feeling. The music is very real to his life yet he somehow pulls himself out of it, something I think a lot of artists in this generation should take notes from. Overall the album sounded like a stream of consciousness with beautiful background instrumentation. Great first album and I’m already anticipating the next!!

  12. RT says:

My favorite part of the album is the feature from Andre 3000. While he has become known to kill it on every feature – people often forget what a legend he is and how he still is in his prime after all of these years.

  13. Maria Bossman-Damiba says:

Its amazing how nowadays, people don’t know how to use their words. Simple phrases get skewed and the truth gets lost. Yet, being able to convey a message, can be as simple as using the right words. Frank reminds us that, relaying emotion doesn’t have to be hard, spitting truth doesn’t have to be complex. Channel Orange is more than music, he becomes naked for us, we see into him, and as corny as it sounds, we see into ourselves. The tracks themselves (beat wise) were perfectly chosen and arranged, and from Start to End, we’re literally taken on a journey. – [email protected] (Maria B)

  14. awillance says:

What’s not to love about Channel Orange. It flows so well. The production is amazing. The entire album is as if Frank is telling a story from different perspectives including his own. Love it! Extremely happy that I decided to buy it.

  15. Dez says:

Channel Orange takes you on a journey of the meaning of love. Truly showing you love is blind. Frank Ocean has the talent to entertain and touch on many familiar life situations! he is the voice of our generation! One Love…. [email protected]

  16. Lauren Ashley says:

In my personal opinion we haven’t experienced a well written, transparent, immaculately produced album like this since the debut of John Legend. The fact that he is managing to stay so hip-hop yet make the audience feel so R&B is something that is rarely done, which is why though there is a small comparison between them, Frank is in a league of his own. Bad Religion is by far the most well written song that we have heard in a long time. With his aforementioned announcement, it just managed to dig even deeper into his depth as a writer, an artist, and a creative genius. He didn’t need a bunch of features, or cosigners. He spoke to us through “swaggy” storytelling and it sold. I love it.

  17. Andrea says:

What I love about Channel Orange is the range in the metaphors, it makes you think and read more into the lyrics. The wordplay of the album is simple but with underlying messages. It’s refreshing.

  18. kaitlin says:

I love Channel Orange from start to finish; literally, I do not hit skip, I let the entire album play. This is a rarity in music today to find an album that is so great you don’t need to skip to another song. It’s a beautiful album with beautiful messages in each song. The music, the lyrics, the vocals, the album packaging, everything about this album is fantastic. I am grateful for Frank Ocean and that he allowed us to step into his world via Channel Orange. Channel Orange is an album that I needed in my life and after much anticipation, I’m glad it’s finally here.

  19. Danielle Campbell says:

It’s that R&B feel in a time where it may be merging or exploring as a genre. Frank knows how to captivate people without giving out too much so that you can really make a song your own. He sings his heart out and gives you chills. I love this album because it’s needed. Forget what people think he means as a symbol for the black lgbt community, Frank means a lot to the R&B genre because he brings back the purity of the music. It isn’t about this person, that place, it’s timeless. It is something you can listen to forever and it won’t be a time stamp of where we are right now. It’ll just live on as really great music. ~Danielle Campbell Email: [email protected]

  20. Shamaine Darden says:

Channel orange is just a very eclectic album. He has took a very differnet song and mashed it up with his own style and made it sound great. He’s very diverse and this album has shown us all that.
Frank’s deliverence on this album was amazing. He could be talking about the bad things and his life and really give us his soul so we could feel how he was at that point and time.

  21. Mitchara Labady says:

Channel Orange is something i’ve been waiting for since the Lonny Breaux Compilation album !! My admiration for Frank Ocean goes beyond measure! The way he carries himself, the way he creates music, and the way he puts words together to tell a never ending story is just the basic characteristics that intrigues me about this man. Ever since the release of Channel Orange I of course cannot get enough of Frank Ocean! I’ve read every article, listened to every track (1 million times), and even tried hunting down tickets to his sold out show out in Boston and New York. The album’s storyline is incredible and many people fail to realize that because their just listening to it with a radio ear. In order to fully interpret the storyline behind Channel Orange, I believe that you must know Frank Ocean as a whole and once that understanding comes into play, the album will be even THAT much better ! Channel Orange is full of FEEL GOOD music ! This is definitely a “Summer” album and also a GREAT first album from Frank. Although I still cannot get enough of Channel Orange I am already at the edge of my seat anticipating what else this master mind might have up his sleeve !! – [email protected]

  22. Ladan says:

I love everything about this album, the lyrics the subliminal meanings that I have to decode myself, the whole production. Channel Orange is truly a masterpiece and as a huge fan of Christopher Breaux and his previous albums “The Lonny Breaux Collection” and “Nostalgia Ultra.” it’s a blessing. The effort that was put into this showcases that he didn’t hold back while writing theses songs. Channel Orange will be a legendary production that will be marked in history. The high notes that were hit the chills that were given are two of many things that made me admire the album. “Bad Religion” and “Forrest Gump” have to be my personal favorites as fans we all have to support his decisions and to be completely I’m glad he came out of the closet instead of hiding it from his admirers. I don’t get lucky with theses kind of things but to win theses tickets and see him live would mean the world to me.
    Live Civil X Channel Orange

  23. Dion Jones says:

Channel Orange was about life rather than just being about love. Channel Orange embodies Rhythm and Blues. The blues was embodied on Crack Rock & Sierra Leone and the rhythm was brought to life on Lost and Pyramids. The songwriting is superb, as well. Frank maintains his own lane while channeling other great songwriter such as Stevie and Martin who didn’t ignore world issues, while addressing personal situations. Oh and let us not forget that Frank Ocean made a song that will be played at weddings for years to come in Thinkin Bout You. Channel Orange restored my faith in the newer generation of R&B and those are reasons I love Channel Orange.

  24. First and foremost, what I love the most is the diversity of the songs on this album. Each song has it’s own vibe, so to speak; and although some of the content may be a bit more perplexed to younger age groups, I feel that there is indeed something for everyone on this album. This album definitely stands out from other music releases this year thus far, and I truely feel that it’s a step forward in music itself. The lyrical content is amazing and the beats are very fitting. It is indeed a timeless album!

  25. Savior Sol says:

Channel Orange is absolutely bold. Just like all of Frank Ocean’s music. It’s art at it’s purest form in my opinion. We’ve been missing something like this in music lately and i’m glad Frank Ocean was the one to put it out. Music is about creativity, and taking chances. And that’s exactly what Channel Orange was about. Frank Ocean spilled his soul onto this album and I appreciate it.

  26. Sheena says:

Growing up in a urban area I was only exposed to certain types of music. After stumbling upon some of Frank Oceans songs on YouTube, my world completely changed. This man is inspiring and makes me view the world in a different perspective. Channel Orange is my by far his greatest work. Not only am I a fan of the production team, but I am captivated by his lyrics. My old school Haitian mother is also a new fan of Mr. Ocean. Now she walks around the house singing all the songs from the new album. Now that’s impressive. Mr. Ocean you’ve done it again.

  27. Aaron Christopher says:

What I love about Channel Orange is its honesty. Frank doesn’t seem to be worried about the climate of the music environment, he is just making the music that he feels necessary to himself and his story. That’s something that the audience picks up on and it’s very inviting. It’s taking a trip inside his head. There are many things that can be said about the album, but the fact that it feels like you’re having a conversation with the artist is the most attractive thing about the album to me.

  28. Ladan says:

Frank Ocean put so much dedication into this piece Channel Orange is a compilation of jazz and r&b which are my favorite music genres. The album is outstanding and the fact that the blues legend John Mayer to be featured on it is out of this world.

  29. andy says:

This album, music content aside made huge waves in the music industry imo. Frank went from being an artist on the backburner shelves of IDJ, put out N/Ultra, to creating enough momentum on his own to make Def Jam to release his Channel Orange. It’s amazing to see him hit Chris Brown Fortune and Usher #s with his first release with no marketing behind him. It’s dope to see Frank go from that to having another sold out LA show, a 1.5 hr wait to get in, merch sold out before the set, and Def Jam execs like Karen Kwak and Barry Weiss fly out to LA and be caught in the swarm of OF hipsters and fans in the lobby of the Wiltern pre-show. Frank and his manager created a monster movement organically and live up to the hype with the content on Channel Orange. (Andy [email protected])

  30. I love “Channel Orange” because of the lyrics for me the stories he tells, metaphors he uses, the harmonies like on “Sierra Leone”. Its not like your typical R&B album. The way “Pyramids” from like ambient electronica to dancefloor synth-pop to a soulful slow jam to a psychedelic guitar solo without sounding out of place. Overall Frank Ocean & Channel Orange reminds me of the likes of Stevie Wonder or Prince, applying some of their best qualities in mind to tracks that are modern. [email protected]

  31. Ladan says:

Channel Orange was the best time I invested on an album, the way he comes across with his metaphors just gives me a drug like addiction to his music. This album deserves an Oscar or Grammy and deserves to be recognized world wide

  32. Brian Hirt says:

To call Frank Ocean just a musician would be an insult to his genius. To be so young, and to be his debut album is absolutely mind blowing. To see what he can do in the future will definitely keep people on their toes.

channel ORANGE is an album that you can blow you away every time you listen to it. From the opening track Thinkin’ Bout You to Golden Girl it has so many high points, that at times you forget you are actually listening to music. His voice is so smooth and melodic, it is almost unfair to have such talent.

There is also the Elephant in the room of Frank “Coming Out” in which I say congratulations. In his area of music, it is almost a crime to some artists to have that lifestyle, but he chose to be himself, and he didn’t care what others thought of him, because he was happy with his choice.

I can’t wait to hear more from Mr. Ocean in the future, because I know it will be very bright…

  33. DeAnna C says:

I recently had to sell my Frank Ocean ticket for his NY show this Thursday to help out with bills in my household. I graduated college in May (from NJIT) and I did not receive any gifts and/or rewards to applause my commencement accomplishments. I bought the ticket as a gift to myself and I am still upset that I can not attend the show on Thursday. I have been a fan of his for some time now…through Lonny Breaux, Midi Mafia and his recent transition to “Francis Ocean”. Before buying Channel Orange, the last CD I purchased was WTT. I admire Frank’s weird creativity and the nostalgic process in which he writes. I too admire his bravery as being donned a class act for revealing his suggested sexual orientation. He is undeniably a genius with the pen; Channel Orange is a complete body of work and sometimes less is more. Albums that are produced in-house style are usually classic works of art ( I read the credits). I love all of the songs equally…and yes, I can still play the album through without a skip..

Too, ty Karen for this opp !

  34. Cease DTA says:

I love the entire album. The way Frank starts it with the
original Play Station sound brings memories to many of his fans. All of the
stories that is told in the album shows the diversity of his work. All of his
lyrics, the beats, production, and the features bring a new dynamic to the
music industry. The simplicity of the artwork speaks volume to the listener, without
saying much. There is no specific genre you can place channel ORANGE in.
Frank’s daringness approach to the album and only put out good vibes is what
this world needs. My favorite song might be either Sweet Life or Supper Rich
Kids, only if I was forced to choose. The album going to #1 on iTunes within
minutes shows his fans love him, and having fans that dedicated is motivation
    to be great.

  35. Rs says:

I love Channel Orange because Frank Ocean has made it not outrageous, nor too simple. He’s made the music sound very similar to his old mixtape(s) songs, but has also added some new sounds. Frank Ocean has incorporated some great lyricism in his songs, especially, my favourite being, Sweet Life. His music definitely speaks through. Frank Ocean’s delivery for Channel Orange has been magnificent & it’s great to see an artist from mixtape/Lonny Breaux days grow to a well-developed artist, today — especially with these enormous first debut album sale numbers! This is a must-have album that everyone should definitely purchase, otherwise they are really missing out.
Thank you for this giveaway, Karen!

  36. James Geevarghese says:

love how the album flows together. All the songs sound organic and they fit with each other. The album doesn’t sound forced. I also loved Franks approach on the album leaking but releasing it a week early on iTunes. The fact that he got Andre 3K on the album by it made me want to instantly get the album. Because Dre wouldn’t get on songs if he didn’t believe in the artists. I personally like raping better than r&b in general but Franks music is just to good not to listen to it. Also the fact that people are super judgmental now a days and he still came out and addmited to being “bi” is a great thing. And it’s great that it didn’t affect his music. The music is great regardless of who he is talking to, male or female. I believe the album is just great in general and personally love it! [email protected]

  37. Ladan says:

The words that stuck to me the most have to be “What is a woman? is she just a container for the child” cause I believe that sexism is very common in many countries. How he puts words together is just so creative.

I also believe that this was hands down with no hesitation the best album of 2012 and years to come. I love Channel Orange because it’s complex and versatile, none of us no the real meanings and it’s the mysteriousness that keeps us coming back

  38. Ladan says:

This album showcases that Frank Ocean can change up his style to that feel good pop kind of music and go to that soulful soft side. How Frank speaks upon Muslims in “Bad Religion” is simply beautiful.

  39. Tubresha Davis says:

I have been waiting on this record since I hit play on Nostalgia, Ultra for the first time. I appreciate Frank Ocean’s ability to pinpoint emotion so well through ingenuous lyrics, contagious melodies, and well-thought-out arrangements. As a music fanatic, I love that Channel Orange shows traces of influences from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Prince, but still remains Frank Ocean. Channel Orange is a very cohesive, refreshing body of work that I will continue to hit play on for the rest of this ‘sweet life’.

  40. Candii Famous says:

where do I even begin to explain how powerful Frank is not only as an artist but as well as a person? Ican honestly say that most male artist you cant feel the connection from the music to their fans/audience but Frank has a specialty in mastering that. I wasn’t a huge fan before, I just liked his music. But thru this album he has some how captured my heart. And to see how far he came from and how big he is now is just amazing. So humble about, this album is pure prefection and I literally listen to it ALL day! I would rant about my favorite song but he has made it so difficult to choose one. His voice is soooo soothing and always puts me in a better mood no matter what situation. Im in love wit his passion for music and his ability to capture souls. The industry isn’t what it use to be and Frank is really bringing that good 90’s music back. Even if i dont win the contest, I just want him to know that you are well respected in my.eyes as a human being and a artist. Thank u for being yourself and not being afraid to show it. your a positive influence to alot. And I thank you Shaun. Loveeeee xoxoxoxox [email protected]

  41. Fausto says:

Channel Orange brings together a blend of multiple genres like contemporary R&B, gospel, blues, jazz, electro, and eccentric alternative elements providing the album with the potential to become timeless. Frank’s first album debuts his talented song writing skills while being backed by soulful melodies creating an album to play from front to back without disappointment. Well played Fank, well played (lol).

    [email protected]

  42. The anticipation for the release of this album was unreal. Frank’s mix tapes were a beautiful mix of everything he is. Channel Orange is the honest truth. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but he exceeded any expectation I could have. Just giving the album a once over I felt inspired. I started to write myself and I haven’t written anything in years. This is the type of artist Frank Ocean is. The vibes, the beats, the melodies, Frank Ocean has it all. There is at least one song on this album that anyone can relate to. I don’t think Frank is comparable to any other artist out there. He’s new, he’s fresh, he is the FUTURE of music. This is an album I can listen to from beginning to end, over and over again.

  43. Carson Pruitt says:

channel ORANGE is a great work by Mr. Ocean. He built up the hype with the single Thinkin Bout You, which was a great and thoughtful song describing Frankie wanting to advance in the relationship and how girls don’t get the hint that a guy really does think about this stuff too. The thing I love about this album is that it is hard to assign it to a specific genre because it is so diverse and mellow. It is it’s own genre of music. It is like Pop with a twist of Jazz. I can jam to any of his songs and his instrumentals and even the simple 40 second song Fertilizer is so relaxing. Frank’s songs are so meaningful and deep and he isn’t afraid to tell all in his songs. Forrest Gump was a risky song to put on the album, but he wanted to be honest with his fans and didn’t want to hide anything and I believe his decision to come out did in fact help out his career. Frank Ocean will go on to produce more hits and bangin’ records and continue to support OFWGKTA in the process.

Thanks for being so awesome Karen! I love reading your blogs and hope I have a chance in winning this!
    XOXO

  44. Pilot Jones says:

Channel Orange is and will always be more then just an album..it’s a compilation of diverse genres topped with a sheer coat of his silky voice. As a huge fan of Frank’s artwork this album is exactly what I needed. How he expresses himself from different aspects as well as his own shows that he’s just like any normal person making it easier to feel and relate to his music.

  45. Ivon Caudillo says:

I love channel orange because the first time i heard it it wasn’t anything that I’ve heard before in the hard core hip hop / rap music world. I’m going to be honest, at first it took me a couple replays to get use to the songs and listening to how deep he went into it lyrically. Some of his lyrics i could really connect to. I also LOVE how Frank Ocean went from being something simple to something GREAT thanks to fans like us. Making someones dreams come true thanks to fans like us, thats a really emotional experience for someone fresh starting off if you ask me. The album overall stood out to me a lot because of its cover and how it looks sophisticated 🙂 it grabbed my attention. It was a good move on his part ha. I just love it PERIOD 🙂 it has that different funk to it! Those are my honest thoughts. xx

  46. Vera Oduro says:

Channel Orange dicussed feelings that people are too afraid to express reality wise. Frank Ocean delivered an album, without the electropop influence, without crap and fillers. He spoke on topics and situation we’ve all been in before: love, disappointments, indecisiveness, and enjoying life; in a fresh new way that we all needed for R&B. Channel Orange goes beyond what R&B is known for currently and it establishes the lane for a new way for R&B to be routed toward. Channel Orange shows the reward of not caring about what others think and doing what you feel is right for you. It tells you that it is okay to be yourself, and that are a special, unique person. These are all the things I love about Channel Orange because it begs to ask yourself: Who are you? and Is this is how you want your life to be?

  47. Troy says:

    channel
ORANGE redefines what we should expect from artists, refines our notion of what
quality music should sound like, and defines what talent is today. What I love about
this album is that I can finally listen to something amazing and have a unique
sense of pride because it was created during my time. Lovers of real music have
been waiting on Frank Ocean and channel ORANGE for years. We’ve been pacified
with empty, meaningless lyrics for way too long, only thinking we were
satisfied, but Frank puts food on the table with channel ORANGE.

  48. Shakari says:

Frank ocean is honest . There’s honesty within his music . He’s an honest artist . I love channel orange . Its a remarkable piece of work that tells a story . That’s what music is about : experiences . – Shakari ([email protected])

I loved Channel Orange because you can hear Frank be at peace with his decision to come out which is something I believe to be very important. He lives without fear in a industry that looks down upon his beliefs. But not only does he give his side, he allows listeners to make it their story as well. I love everything he stands for! I Love Channel Orange Just Because Its about An american man who has a passion about music and They Way He Writes Hiss Music About past experiences Gives his Fans and listeners A Album That describes the adventures and hardships of his life And Me personally im a big fan of frank ocean and this album to me shows us more about the man we all come to love as frank ocean ( [email protected]

  52. Jordan says:

what I love about this album is the emotion you can feel in every song, and with only the few featured artists I think he was spot on in choosing them from the rest! every song has you hooked and I can’t stop listening to it, also there’s very few artists that can make a solo track that lasts over 9 minutes without it getting boring & Frank smashed that!! I loved nostalgiaULTRA and I love this just as much and I hope he continues to make music like this that has earned him so much attention in the industry. outstanding album. [email protected]

  53. kibby_60035 says:

I’ve been a fan of Frank since The Lonny Breaux collection, and i’ve loved both mix tapes, which includes Nostalgia/ Ultra, but it’s this body of work that hits the closest to my heart, as he’s singing about experiences that i’ve either been thru, or is going thru. I love that the soundtrack to my love life can be expressed thru Forrest Gump, Thinking Bout You, and Pilot Jones, and more serious issues like Crack Rock is now the backdrop for my memory of a loved one.
I truly love this album, I hope I win this package : )Email: [email protected]

  54. Toy says:

What I loved most is that I could relate…..We all know heartbreak …..I love Channel Orange because Frank channeled his raw emotions. He’s a awesome storyteller and every track gives you a peep into his life, his emotions, whats going on in his heart and his head. And let’s not forget the soulful music behind his lyrics ….

  55. Kslsey says:

This is a really nice album. I love how he’s his self on his first album with nothing to hide. The whole album is hot

  56. Mell Nay says:

I have been a fan since his first mix tape. And I know for a fact that he is one very talented artist. His songs take me back to another era and with every hook I’m intrigued . I want to keep this short and simple , just know that I’m listening to the album as we speak and Lost is my favorite song on the album.

  57. FutureKID95 says:

As americans most note, music is diverse. This album and the genre of “Frank Ocean” as a whole furfills that purpose. As a young, straight African American male musician I can relate to this album for the simple fact of its diversity. Channel Orange teaches us weither we’re black, white, straight or gay we can relate to each other by the art of music. As an added plus the album is personal and very much real & a sweet dream. “Pyramids” is my favorite track clocking in at almost 10 minutes because it’s elements of everything. Any person that is welling to give a listen can relate to the lyrics and its instrumentation. The crossover from one verse to the next is one of the best that gives you a sense of genius Frank Ocean has to offer. I love this album because of its retrospective of life and the meaning to be loved no matter who you are. It’s that certain album that no track (or interlude) needs to be skipped. I love that this album was ground breaking. You can’t help but listen to the album all the way through without skipping songs. Every single song is a hit. That is so rare a feat in the music world today! And I love it because I know he’s just getting started! Channel Orange is definitely the album of the summer!

I’d been surrounded by the inescapable hype surrounding Frank Ocean for a year or so now, and at first I was a little apprehensive about whether or not his music would be to my liking. However, after downloading ‘nostalgia/Ultra’, I later learned I would listen to the flawless mix tape countless times. Oceans talent shone, with himself proving to be an completely original talent as a singer/songwriter and  in Following the release of ‘Channel Orange’, as I’m sure everyone can agree, Ocean failed to disappoint. I know it’s an album that I can play regardless of my mood, whether I am down or elated, it will always deliver. The chilled out beats accompanied by Franks velvety voice knit together on every track, my personal favorite being ‘lost’, to make an album that I will no doubt play endlessly, and I can only eagerly anticipate what Ocean will produce in years to come, which I’m sure will be flawless, just as ‘Channel Orange’ has proven to be.

  63. This album is what i would like to call a classic. You can not compare Frank Ocean to anyone else, he is of a genre of his own. Music noadays is nothing like what it used to be. There is no meaning. language within songs today are very straight forward. Frank ocean is in a leaugue of his own and no one is touching him ! @ [email protected]

Channel Orange, Frank Ocean. Okay I’ll start by saying this is already the best r&b album of the year. From finish to end, the creativity behind vocals, productions as well as the feautures. I’ve been waiting on this album due to the fact of Nostiagla, Ultra was going threw some copyright problems. When the track listing leaked, for some reason I was drawn to the record “Crack Rock”. I felt it would be a dope record just by the name, but when the album released early on iTunes a follower on my tumblr sent me “Pink Matter” and I immediately fell in love with it. I also hope he shoots a visual for it. I’ve been listening to this album since it released and nothing else can draw me away from it. He sounds like the 2012 version of Prince which in my opinion, is awesome for music. #ChannelOrange certified classic!!!!

I’ve been a fan on Frank Ocean’s for a while now, but when I purchase ‘Channel Orange’ I really didn’t know what to expect. Each song is a carefully built masterpiece that seems effortlessly executed. I feel like I’m addicted to the album, I wake up and I want to listen to it and I fall asleep wanting to do the same. I’ve told all my friends that they need to listen to it. Although he’s been in the news for some of his personal life issues, they arent issues to me at all. It still amazes me how ignorance can pollute such a positive thing, but good thing I have ‘Channel Orange’ to drown out all of the negativity.

Never have I ever caught myself needing to get to my car to sing. I’m not heart broken, I’m not coming out of the closet, and I don’t have any particular struggle that associated my life with the most popular songs in “Canal Naranja”. But even when I had my boys in the car and they wanted to vibe to some trap music, I was here belting at the top of my lungs about being in lust. Channel Orange makes me feel good, about myself about the world about everything. I’ve even caught my Dad singing along “why see the world when you got the beacccch”! Its no wonder that this album was so highly anticipated, Frank Ocean really created a treasure for me.

What is there not to love about Channel Orange would be a more Civil question. Frank Ocean has had quite the buzz since dropping his critically acclaimed mixtape nostalgia, ultra and his debut album Channel Orange delivers, rightfully sustaining his “hype”. With Frank’s smooth and soulful vocals, Channel Orange is able to channel an array of different emotions in the listener. Its eclectic offering of songs ranging from the hit single “Thinking About You” to the head bobbing tracks “Super Rich Kids” & “Lost” and even the John Mayer featured track “White” which offers no words just music are able to satisfy and captivate a great range of music listeners. To put it in his own words, Frank Ocean has trolled the music industry. From releasing “Pyramids”, a 9:52 track to releasing the album digitally a week early. Frank releasing the album digitally early showed me the listener that he believed not only in himself, but his final “product”. This in turn caused me not only to have even more respect for Frank, but to hold Channel Orange in an even higher regard. I believe Channel Orange was crafted carefully and with honesty thus executed well. This album steps out of the normal realm and strays away from the mediocrity that many artists have come to offer in music today. In a era where many r&b singers (not to put Frank in a genre or box) are turning to pop, Frank has chosen to take a completely different route, the road less traveled. The road less traveled though in most instances less safe, pays off in Frank’s case as Channel Orange makes me not want to turn the channel.

  71. I love channel ORANGE, this album make me remember my real love, because it is so complicated, the distance make it so hard for me. The lyrics and the melody of this album are awesome, I identify much with Frank. I love the way that Frank puts his life in his songs, this has caused me to become a big fan. So these are the things I love about the channel ORANGE. Peace and Love! ([email protected])

  72. Erik Bond says:

I love the fact that there’s something for everyone on Channel Orange. The hip-hop heads, the R&B fans, even a John Mayer feature. Songs from a male point of view, songs that can be from a female point of view. Plus Frank had the courage to reveal a personal confession right before the album dropped, knowing that it could possibly hurt album sales. Him having the courage to do Forrest Gump, maybe it can be the song that helps people who may be in the same position as he was. It’s just a classic album, from start to finish.

Channel Orange changed everything I appreciated about music. It brought life to my headphones, & to my music library. Every little beat, every word, every thought i think when I’m listening to it is a new experience it taught me how to love music in a different way. [email protected]

  74. Caitlin Harriford says:

I love that Channel Orange is unlike any album I’ve heard. The production is crazy. Especially in a world today where there is almost too much production, Channel Orange “rights” the wrongs. For example, on “Super Rich Kids,” the drums are so simple but it works so well. But I must say, the production on “Pyramids” is mind-blowing. It’s like three songs in one, but it works. I wish I would have created that song. Also, Frank Ocean is a great songwriter. He knows how to tell stories in a creative, unorthodox way. Frank Ocean is the only person that I’ve heard that can relate the queen Cleopatra to a stripper and make it all mesh well.

  75. Ariiiiii says:

I love everything about Frank Ocean and this album. He put so much heart and soul into it and you can tell by how each song tells its own story. The fact that he came out about his sexuality right before his album dropped makes this album even more of an amazing achievement. So many people enjoy this album even if they don’t agree with his way of life. His music makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed. I just love his voice and how he really doesn’t care about how much emotion he puts in each song. Thinking about you will always be my favorite track because every time it comes on I cant help but sing along. It makes me get so emotional but in a good way. The fact that you can go on YouTube and find hundreds of covers for this song just goes to show how much of an influence his music is on people across the globe. He can collab with just about anyone and make a hit. He is, in fact, the definition of a true talented musician. I’d love to see him live one day, I know I’d most likely cry the whole time (im a cry baby for good singers) haha but it’d be worth it! ([email protected]) LIVE CIVIL <3<3<3

  76. Courtney says:

Being from New Orleans like Frank I want nothing but to see him successful. For himself, and to be an example for youth here hoping to make their talent known. I want to start by saying I don’t love Channel Orange, I’m in love with it. From the sultry melodies to the foot tapping jams, it’s perfection. Channel Orange is like “Fertilizer” for the soul helping you grow spiritually. After listening to the album you see it’s necessary to keep it on repeat because it’s more addicting than “Crack Rock”. Frank’s voice delivers something the music industry has never witnessed before, it’s normal to get “Lost” in the rhythm. Like “Fittest Hump” Frank constantly runs on my mind. Just listen to a couple tracks and you’re instantly living the “Sweet Life”. To be honest, it’s a “Bad Religion” not to bask in the album’s greatness.

  77. Sarah Jane says:

Channel Orange….my favorite album this year. Thank you Frankie Ocean. I’ve been trying to get everyone to listen to this album since it came out. I have the texts to prove it. My boyfriend said he would do “anything” for me, I told him go listen to Channel Orange….seriously….the whole thing….beginning to end. I might just break up with him if he doesn’t. That’s how much I care! My co-worker asked what I was singing, I told him Frank Ocean’s new album. He didn’t even know who he was. I was shocked. I started to stutter b/c it was going to take me a lot of energy to describe the entity that is Frank to him. You should try it sometime. Yesterday I was lying on the beach with my cousin and he asked me what I was listening to, I told him Channel Orange knowing very well my cousin does not listen to him. He wanted to know more. I told him I was fascinated by the stories Frank tells in his music. He goes from talking about a pimp with his prostitute lover Cleopatra, to confessing to a taxi cab driver his love for a male. I get chills just thinking about how deep his music touches me–he is open, honest, funny, passionate, quirky, and provocative. It’s not just the lyrics that move me or the way the notes play, but the way he sings the song. The best part about Frank Ocean are his riffs. He has the most beautiful riffs I’ve ever heard these days. They are littered throughout the album for your enjoyment. I’ll give you an example, one of my favorite riffs is in Pyramids. He says “bring her back to meeee” in the beginning of the song and that line sung just shakes my core!!! That simple line can move a million mountains. That’s one of his strengths– using the way he sings to connect to the listener. Only true singers know how to do that. And the only way you can do that is through your open honest emotions, which Frank indeed possesses. How much more can I rave about this album? I could go on for days, through each illustrative song. Please know that I represent Frank Ocean hard and will stand up for him any day of the week and will continue sharing the love that is Channel Orange–my sun and moon, my world to get lost in.

Frank Ocean Channel Orange album is a classic hip hop album in my books. I like that he does have to be everywhere and on everybody song in order to the the first week numbers that he did, which is amazing. Many people in the game today can not do that on there first album. When I first listen to this album it took me somewhere, it made me go into a relax state of mind. This album is the type of album that you can wake up in the morning an listen to from front to back before starting your day, Which I do by the way. I love this album so much, I haven’t heard music like this in awhile. This is the type of music that the game is missing. Even his little incident he release a little while before his album had many people shook, saying that they are not going to listen to his album because of that. I said you can’t knock a mans craft because they where loving his music before he came out an said what he said. This got to be one of the best albums this year hands down. Love it!! Channel Orange is simply an astounding album. You can tell that Frank Ocean put his all into this masterpiece. The pressure was on for Frank to make a dope debut album especially for the fans that loved Nostalgia Ultra and by far surpassed my expectations. I love the fact that Frank was honest on this album. He truly meant every word that he spoke and you can feel it through each track on Channel Orange. That’s why I just cant get enough of this album!!! ([email protected])

Channel Orange is a piece of art. I absoulutely love when artist are finally able to put out their albums. It is 24 years worth of music that Frank Ocean has bottled up. Each song tells a story and I love that he was brave enough to share his journey with us. I have been following his career since he put out his mixtape in 2011. We are the same age and i feel like I can understand where he is coming from. I will love to win his album. I feel like this album Channel Orange is this generations Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This album will be classic. If I don’t win I just want to tell you thank you for paving the way for bloggers such as myself. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Much love and respect. xAmber Steez

  81. Can I just start off by saying that I’ve been a
    huge fan of Frank
    Ocean
since The Lonny Breux Collection and Nostalgia Ultra. During the lead up to Channel
Orange’s release, I spent a while wondering if it would live up to my
high expectations of bettering his last two phenomenal mix tapes and
it certainly did not disappoint! The album is almost like an autobiography of
Frank’s life and experiences, each song being almost like a different chapter.
Not only does the album reveal Frank’s raw emotion and reveals his personal
experiences but it gives the listener the chance to make each chapter of
Frank’s life into a chapter of their own life. He is an incredible storyteller
and Channel Orange, as an album, has really made me realise that no matter who
you are, where you’re from and where you are in life right now – we are all
facing similar situations, hardships, ups and downs and that we are all just
human beings going through life – race, religion, sexuality, gender or social
    status irrelevant.

It must be hard to be yourself, reveal your
true feelings in a society, an industry – in fact a world – where people judge
you so harshly for being who you are. I have nothing but admiration for Frank
and I applaud him for his honesty throughout the album. He is a brave man and
is undoubtedly changing the face of music for good and breaking barriers single
    handily.

    Frank is a true
artist. Each lyric is written with such raw emotion, such untouched love, such tender
care. His vocals remain outstanding throughout the whole project – he has one
of those rare and hard to find voices that make the hairs on the back of your
neck stand up. Each note is executed with such beauty and presented with such
thoughtfulness. Everything about the album is so beautiful, I could listen to
it on repeat for the rest of my life and not get bored as every time I listen
to it, I discover a new, deeper meaning to the song, I hear a new, exciting
note filling my ears and I see and feel a new, different side to Frank.

    His words are
intricate, his voice is moving and his true passion for music visible
throughout the album – Channel Orange is the epitome of not just a
flawless album but a flawless piece of art work. I am mesmerised by
this nonchalant, mysterious and captivating figure known as Frank Ocean and I can only
continue to become more and more intrigued by the story he tells through each
    song.

Channel Orange is a true gem and
I think that anybody and everybody could relate to the emotions and feelings
that Frank conveys through his effortless way with words and his flawless
vocals. The album is a breath of fresh air compared to the
usual meaningless, generic music that we hear on the radio each day and in
the so called music charts. You don’t have to skip a track and it is definitely
the best album you will come across this year.

    Frank Ocean is an
exceptionally talented individual and I know that his career will be a
long and successful one, which he righteously deserves. I can assure
you that Channel Orange and Frank himself are the future of music and you will
hear more of him and his story for many years to come.

  85. Frank Ocean has always been one of my favorite artist. I love the fact that he sings from his soul, and is able to connect with not just me but with majority of the people who listen to his music. After listening to his mixtapes for so long, hearing he had an album coming out was like immediate excitement! i couldn’t wait for it to come out. When he released his album a week early on itunes i had to buy it because i could not wait to hear his new music. I loved every minute of it, from Start to End. I listen to it almost 3 times a day. And i always play it on my ipod at a really low volume at night so i can fall asleep listening to his soothing music. My favorite song off the album is Sierra Leone and Bad Religion. I just love listening to how soothing there are. A lot of people don’t know the meaning behind those two songs either. I was mad when i went to Best Buy to buy his album the day it came out and it was sold out, and they still haven’t restocked :/ (Terrell Paige) ([email protected])

Frank said the color orange reminded him of the summer he fell in love, and I think you get all of the complex emotions associated with someone in love in Channel ORANGE–apprehension and insecurity, unrational forgiveness, awe, melancholy, sarcasm, pleasure, and the list goes on and on. I am blown away by all of the nuances in the album–from the Playstation bootup sounds in “Start” to all of the hidden harmonies throughout the album, to the way faith, spirituality, wealth and sexuality are explored. I appreciate this album’s straightforwardness–just enough features from outside artists to really keep the focus on Frank and what he has to say. I’m the same age as Frank is, and while I won’t pretend to identify with each experience he has had, I will say that being a 24 year old trying to figure out who you are, who you love, and what you’re willing to put up with from yourself and others are all familiar feelings that resonate strongly with me when I listen to Channel ORANGE (everyday on the way to work since it came out, by the way). I wish Frank much success, and I hope he has a great time in concert in my city (Philadelphia) tonight! 🙂 ~Stephanie ([email protected])

  88. Channel Orange is a very eclectic album, and I have been anticipating its arrival ever since I first heard of frank ocean when I downloaded his Lonny breaux

  89. @ktmue says:

I’ve loved Frank Ocean since I’ve heard Nostalgia Ultra. What I love about Channel Orange is that he didn’t change from his mixtape to this album. I love that he was so open and was not afraid to go where no other artist has gone, whether r&b/pop or any genre or even as a black male. It’s a sad truth that if many other black, male artists would have said the pronouns he did, they would be scrutinized. He stayed true to himself which is very respectable. Frank is very insightful, talented, and fearless, which was reflected in Channel Orange. From Start to End the album was beautiful, descriptive, and poetic. This album tops my list of favorites and hopefully he proves this by winning multiple Grammys.

  90. Chris says:

This album was made by Frank, in my opinion, to share past pleasures and pain. Not only did he want to show a piece of himself. Most singers just make music and hope it sells. I liked that it was honest and showed a side to him we haven’t seen. And it isn’t a masterpiece or perfect by any means. I don’t think any album has accomplish that. Like Frankie and every human, we are all flawed and different. But with this album, I think he finally accepted it and just made this album a representation of who he really is. I’m not much of an R&B fan but this album is so well put together that it breaks boundaries of just a typical “R&B” album. I think its one of the strongest ‘R&B’ albums in a long time. And I guess my ‘favorite part’ of the album really isn’t a certain song in all honesty. My favorite part is that I can tell he really stepped this album up since his Nostalgia tape. My favorite part of any album is the being able to tell the artist matured and changed their style a bit to challenge themselves to make something new and step out of their “safe zone” to do. And I think Frankie accomplished this very very well.

Channel Orange is a very eclectic album, and I have been anticipating its arrival ever since I first heard of frank ocean when I downloaded his Lonny breaux collection and nostalgia/ultra mixtapes! I got the chance to see him perform live and I was truly blown away. He is an amazing artist and I feel his groove is just what the industry needs right. Channel Orange has a Psychedelic sound that I can relate to in any state of mind I may be in, and I have been listening to it everyday since I purchased it.

  92. Antone512 says:

Channel Orange has only been out for 2 weeks and it’s already a contender for Album Of The Year. Now i know 2 weeks is normally way too soon to make a statement like that, but if you’ve listened to this cd as much as i have in the past 14 days, you’d say the same thing.
I watched him perform “Bad Religion” on Jimmy Fallon while i waited for the album the download on iTunes, and i was blown away. I knew he was about to drop something special, but i had no idea what i was in for… Long story short, Channel Orange is the album that finally allowed me retire Nostalgia Ultra without the fear of having nothing else worthwhile to listen to. The kid Frankie did not disappoint. This is quality music and i don’t see anything topping this album for quite some time. golf wang.

  93. @LozzyFBaby says:

Channel Orange is a bold art statement. An art statement in the form of music and truly heartfelt lyrics. In relation to the title I perceived it as the emotions. The compassion, the pain, the hurt, the confusion, the bravery, the heartbreak, the love the affection, the divine imperfections we learn to love when loving someone, the emotions which when experienced in a positive light set the soul on fire, hence orange. Throughout the album such emotions are expressed not only through the lyrics but through the music and melodies which comes with it, the album channels emotions. The album illustrates an image of love which is competent to be understood and perceived in such ways, any listener can relate the situations expressed on the album to situations he/she has previously experienced. Channel Orange is a work of art. A rare work of art which took bravery. Frank, you’re an outstanding musician.

Personally I’m a lover of music that’s original and i’m a sucker for unique styles of music ever since Frank Ocean released his first mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra he’s been my favorite male singer his music gives me a feeling of euphoria. He’s not like any other artist his music style is diverse and rare what I love most is that he brought all of that together on Channel Orange. The album brings back that summer time feeling where you can ride with the sunroof down, your shades on and your hair blowing through the wind blasting this album it reminds me of the summer time in California. That’s what I love about Channel orange ([email protected])

I’ve always been a Frank Ocean Fan, from his early mixtapes to Channel Orange. Channel Orange
was made available on iTunes a week before its scheduled release date Tuesday. After a few listens, it seems as if it landed years ahead of its time. The album itself reflects Ocean’s personal journey. Ocean offers deeply emotional tracks that are staggering. Some of his songs move the body and others may stop listeners from snapping fingers and nodding heads altogether as they journey into the depths of tough beats laced with social commentary and symbolism. As for me, i love this album, his voice and the vibes give music a new meaning. It feels as if you’re taking a flied trip through his past and mind in a creative way. The music speaks louder than words, and he has just read me a novel.

Channel Orange is more than just an album .. it’s a piece of artwork. A masterpiece. A compilation of almost every emotion imaginable constructed in a way to leave your mind wandering and your perception free to interpretation. I’ve always been one that was better at describing thoughts through written word versus verbal. Frank Ocean is a master at this. His keen ability to paint a portrait of every heartbreak, emotional roller-coaster, or mountain of bliss you’ve ever felt strikes you the moment you press play on this CD. As crazy as it sounds, Frank Ocean has a way of making heartbreak beautiful. Despite the recent buzz due to his sexual orientation, Frank proves that his artistry is what matters with his ability to force you into his shoes, no matter what your romantic preference may be. Whether he uses “he” or “her” in a song, you grasp the emotions and fall deeply into his lyrics, soothing your senses. Channel Orange is a storybook. Channel Orange is a fairy-tale. Channel Orange is a biography for anyone that has ever loved or ever felt .. anything. Channel Orange does not depend on any “club bangers” or “strip club tracks” to bring about any acknowledgement. Instead, Frank incorporates raw emotions and scenarios that are believable and easy to relate to. Frank doesn’t require gimmicks, publicity stunts, or jewels and cars to be noticed. His presence as a raw, unedited human being with flaws and dreams makes him a trailblazer in a lane of his own.

Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange embodies everything that’s missing, everything that’s new, and everything that’s coming in music. It’s honest. It’s humble. It’s a story. It’s a feeling. It’s a moment. It’s a thought. It’s….fresh. I love that Frank kept it about the music. Yeah, there’s been a back story, but as soon as the first track plays it becomes a distant thought. Each track leaves you wanting more. And each track delivers. Frank is pure genius and this album proves it. From his choice of word play to his minimal adlibs to his unique “interludes”, you feel his honest artistry. This album is a glimpse into the mystery that is Frank Ocean. He doesn’t give us much outside of his artistry and I am totally fine with that. I kind of prefer it in a way. Gives the listener a chance to fantasize while listening to his music and focus on just that. Channel Orange is an instant classic. One of those rare albums that can be played from start to finish (much like his nostalgia,Ultra mixtape). Frank is quickly carving out a sound and genre all his own. His voice and vocals are so simple and smooth but, speak volumes and just…touches me. This album delivers on so many levels. It will truly be in rotation for awhile and is one that will be talked about for years to come. -sigh- Channel Orange everything! ([email protected])

Channel Orange is amazing from top to bottom. His majestic and melodic tune keeps the music getting better and better with each and every listen. I listen to it every time without skipping a track because you catch the scene he tries to create in his craft of music. It shows diversity, and creativity. It is simply incredible how he can make a story through his music. Been rocking with him since he started, and will continue to do so as long as he puts out music. ([email protected])

  100. This Album “Channel Orange” is everything to me. I’ve been a Frank Ocean fan since he first made his debute in Odd Future and when he released his first mixtap last year…”Nastalgia, Ultra.” Channel Orange in my opinion is one of the best r&b/ aternative albums I’ve heard in a long time, even a classic already. Its RAW, honest, soulful, vulnerable, thought provoking…and so much more. He’s breaking so many boundaries for music and r&b not only by his substance, talent, and uniqueness in his lyrics and music, but by being so open about his sexuality aswell. When he made his coming out letter it made me connect and understand the album so much more. Also being that I am gay, it gave me so much more respect for him for being so honest and true to himself despite how homophobic the Hip-Hop and r&b community is. I cant tell how inspired and proud of him I am for putting together such a great artisitc body of work. Frank Ocean is truely an ARTIST and an inspiration. I can feel his passion in this whole album. I recently had the opportunity to see him perform live in D.C for the “Channel Orange” tour and it was amazing!! I dont think anyone in these comments are as big of a fan as I am of Christopher Lonny Breaux ( his real name) as I am. Frank is revolutionary!!!! I want this prize pack!!!! Sincerely a well deserving fan. ([email protected])

“I don’t like Odd Future, but I like Frank Ocean” was the most commonly used phrase when talking about Odd Future whenever I had music debates about the members regarding talent. After Frank’s confession I thought it was interesting to see what box he would be placed in next. My first skim through the album I thought it was decent, as was my first listen to Nostalgia Ultra. “Lost, Super Rich Kids, Sweet Life” were standout tracks immediately and easy to listen to. I honestly didn’t know if it lived up to the hype after the first few listens. But then I remembered how Nostalgia Ultra grew on me as this one does. Frank Ocean always manages to sound as relaxed over an instrumental as A$AP Rocky does over a Clams Casino beat. When discussing Channel Orange..Forrest Gump slander is bound to come from most guys. However nothing takes away from the creativity and pure passion Frank pours over the beats. There’s something about Frank’s vocal presence that gives you the impression that the lyrics have been in his head for years because he lives them. Channel Orange manages to capture the same intimacy that Lost In Translation portrayed. One of the albums you tweet lyrics from because you wonder if anyone else understands.

  103. Ambria says:

Channel Orange is Futuristic, Riveting, Alluring, Noteable, and he KILLED IT! Just when I thought the evolution of music couldn’t get any better, he proved me wrong. A new era of orange history has been born. [email protected]

Channel Orange in two words was life changing. It gives so many people hope and it made me so happy to see people be able to be comfortable with themselves. Not only did Frank portray himself as a leader, but the music is incredible. After seeing his last album on Def Jam, practically shelved, it was so great to see Frank soar past his expectations on this one. I’ll be listening to this album for years!

My thing about Frank Ocean is that he is a BRAVE soul. I have always been a fan of Frank. and when he dropped the news about him being bisexual my respect for him grew ever more. The fact that now he can sing on songs like Bad Religion and Forrest Gump and say “he” instead of lying and saying “she.” I know it had to take alot of courage and self respect for him to come out in the open about his sexuality, and personally I think that makes the album even better. When I listen to the album, I know that this artist is being 100% with me, I know these songs are true and from the heart. And for many other artist to stand behind him and give him so much support was so heart warming. Channel Orange is a classic album and will go down in history. Another thing I love about the album is that it feels more like another one of his mixtapes. It has a couple short songs that are nothing but beats, soothing beats at that. Also, now his music will be reached to the gay community. At first the gay community had to listen to females singing about males or males singing about females, but now they have a male singing about another male. So to me this album reaches his original fan base and MORE. This is one of the best R&B albums to date.

  106. My man Franky! That’s one smooth brother right there. I’m not going to say he’s the Al Green of our generation because he’s not. He’s Frank Ocean (OFWGKTA). Not many artists past or present can relate to their fans the way Franky does. I’m not going to lie, Nostalgia was the first time I heard of Franky. I went to Datpiff.com and downloaded it off my girlfriend’s recommendation. Little did I know this man unknowingly wrote a whole album about our relationship, I was an instant fan. Then came Channel Orange….The first song I heard was “Thinking Bout You”. Lets just say my voice will never tickle those falsettos like Franky, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t try every morning. “Pyramids” is my favorite song on the album. I love that its 10 minutes long!! Talk about setting the mood…Those harmonies. That boy GOOD!! I appreciate the fact that he stuck to his roots and didn’t work with many artist on his first album. He gave the fans what they wanted which is harmonies and honesty, not big name features and club bangers. I appreciate him for that. I also appreciate you, Ms. Civil for giving the fans an opportunity to have this discussion. I read a few of the other comments and it’s awesome that so many people feel the same way I do about this guy. Keep up the good work, your adding value to the game. What I love most about channel ORANGE, is the story that each track tells. Lyrically the album is on point, and  every track I find myself never hitting the skip/forward button because his words captivate me from start to finish. Frank Ocean takes the audience on an emotionally charged ride as they listen to the album. With lyrics about love and the struggle we all face with trying to discover and accept who we are as well as who we love, he takes listenrs on a journey unlike any other album I have heard. You can truly feel the emotion in his voice and lyrics, especially in tracks like Thinkin About You, Bad Religion, and Pink Matter. Crack Rock, Pyramids, Lost, and Forrest Gump are also stand out tracks for me. Also the overall flow of the album is similar to nostalgia, ULTRA., which is something I love as well, I really like the continuity between the two bodies of work. Overall, channel ORANGE is an amazing album to me, Frank Ocean’s emotion and honesty is evident in it’s entirety, and it will be in heavy rotation for awhile!

Channel was what I expected but at the same time wished that Frank would have exceeded my expectations, but thats just because I love music. I was looking forward to the Frank that I know from “nastalgia, ULTRA” and the bounty of features hes been on. He did however step a bit outside the norm and became more eclectic in his style, more or less to brouden his audience and give more of his likings to the masses. Overall I think its a pretty good album and it grows on you the more you listen to it. ([email protected])

Im not going to sit here and type up a fake sophisticated comment trying to impress the reader. I’ll be real. Channel Orange was everything I expected and more. It was raw and down to the T. It gave people especially us women a chance to also relate to the words he was singing. Who cares about his sexuality? I dont. Music has no gender, race, or nationality. Channel Orange is makes me feel the music, Frank, and his worlds. It was raw and genius and that is why I will continue to cherish this album. (Email) [email protected]

ON JULY 10TH THE ALBUM CAME OUT ON ITUNES I DOWNLOADED IT ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER IT CAME OUT BECA– — USE I HAD TO FINISH WATCHING FRANK OCEAN PERFORM ON THE JIMMY FALLON SHOW . AFTER I DOWNLOADED IT I PLUGGED IT INTO MY SPEAKERS AND BLASTED IT AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE THROUGH MY HO– — USE AT 2 AM . AS I LISTENED TO THE SONGS FROM START TO END I WAS LISTENING TO CATCH THE MEANING NOT JUST TO SAY OH I HEARD THE ALBUM LIKE I DO TO OTHER ALBUMS. EVERY SINGLE SONG TOLD INDIVIDUAL STORIES THAT I KNEW WERE WRITTEN WITH SO MUCH LOVE AND DEDICATION WHICH MADE ME LOVE EVERY BIT . JUST LIKE NOSTALGIA,ULTRA EVERY SONG MEANT SOMETHING , YOU JUST HAD TO LISTEN CLOSELY , AFTER THE 8TH TIME LISTENING TO IT I KNEW PEOPLE WOULD CONSIDER IT THE BEST ALBUM OF 2012 THEY SHOULD CONSIDER IT THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME . FRANK OCEAN’S MUSIC IS THE ONLY MUSIC I SEEM TO UNDERSTAND AND CHANNEL ORANGE WAS PERFECT TO ME NO MISTAKES , IT WAS SOMETHING THESE ARTIST DON’T PRODUCE TODAY AND THATS MUSIC FROM THE HEART . I CAN GO ON AND ON USING BIG WORDS AS SYNONYMS FOR AMAZING , TRUST ME I CAN BUT I HAVE TO STOP TYPING AT SOME POINT . The first song I heard off of Channel Orange was Bad Religion, and I fell in love with it. I saw him perform it on Jimmy Fallon, and I went and listened to the album online immediately after that. I seriously had the album on repeat for a week, and when the album came out in stores I went and bought it. He has a way with words that just catches your attention and makes you listen and understand what he is saying. He is saying basic things and capturing emotions in such a complex way that you can’t help but notice. I can’t even pick out one favorite song off the album because I love about 5 of them equally. I love when I can listen to an album from beginning to end, and not want to skip a track this is definitely one of those albums for me. -Anela ([email protected])

I have been the biggest fan of Frank
Ocean since The Lonny Breaux Collection and the Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape. I
love his style and how he puts emotions into each of his songs. I love the way
he could be talking about something bad or painful like heartbreak and it still
sounds phenomenal. I have been listening to Channel Orange since the day it was
released. I’m actually playing it right now in iTunes while typing this. No
matter what type of mood I’m in, listening to Channel Orange takes me to a peaceful
state of mind. I can honestly say that I am addicted to the album. I wake up
and go to sleep listening to it. I listen to it when I cook, clean, and relax. It’s
on when I’m getting ready for work and when I’m in the car. I love how each
song is calming and narrative. From Start to End , Channel Orange beautifully
tells stories about life, love, what it’s like to live in such a cruel world
and there’s always a big meaning behind each song. The tracks are sad, sensual,
exciting, and compassionate all at the same time. I feel that Channel Orange as
a whole put a lot of R&B and Hip-hop artists in the shade. I cannot choose
a favorite track because I love them all so much. Channel Orange is definitely the best
album of the decade and I guarantee this album will be admired for the next
    twenty years.

I love that Channel Orange is generational. What does that even mean? Of course just like millions of people I’ve been a Frank Ocean fan for a while now. But Channel Orange has made my mom a fan. The only artists she listens to are Maxwell, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan & Earth, Wind & Fire. NOTHING ELSE. I’d been trying to get her to listen to Nostalgic, Ultra for a year with no success. So I didn’t even try to make her listen to Channel Orange. Last week I just happened to be playing the album & she burst into my room asking me who it was & why I hadn’t let her listen to it. First she thought I was listening to Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye & was shocked when I told her it was Frank Ocean, the guy I’d been trying to get her to listen to for a year. I even got my 12 year old, Mindless Behavior obessed little sister listening to Frank. Now we listen to the album 24/7 & me, my mother and sister each have our own copy.

channel ORANGE is an amazing album to me because it shows the growth of an artist. I’ve listened to some of his earliest work, The Lonny Breaux Collection and you can see the immense change in his artistry. I appreciate that he takes time to tell stories throughout channel ORANGE that are not only emotional but full of depth. I love channel ORANGE because you can hear the labour that has been put into each song. Although Frank seems to have gone through a lot in the past few years he allows himself to wear his heart on his sleeve and is completely vulnerable with the music. Even if you haven’t experienced the same things you are still able to connect and feel the emotion. The features on channel ORANGE are just enough and don’t overload therefore giving new listeners a chance to hear Frank. The album is cohesive to me and keeps a clear sound. The themes of loss, heartbreak, and even desire are rich and surround you throughout. Although skeptical of Frank’ vocals in the past this album has made me a believer. His vocal ability is displayed exceptionally in songs like “Pink Matter” and “Bad Religion”. Also in his live performances you can see the same quality of vocals from the album, which in our day and age is a feat within itself. Simply put I love channel ORANGE because it is a unique album with subtext and metaphors that leave you wanting more. ([email protected])

What I love about Channel Orange is that it’s actual good music. The type that you can actually shit down, relax, and listen to. It’s not just filled with a whole bunch of strip club music. There is so much truth in the simplicity of this album. It says just enough without ruining the message. Listening to it is just pure house and bliss. It’s powerful and so overwhelming. Something that the kusic world had been needing for a long time. I especially love the name. You can tell that there is so much behind it. Before listening to it your so anxious to find it all out. What i love about Frank Ocean & his album Channel Orange is that he does what a musician does best. He made music for the sake of the art, there is no set genre into which he can be defined, his album is a fusion of all different types and doesnt follow the normal song format. Some songs are song with no repetitive hook or 4min length to which most artist are restricted to. He not only opened up his personal life but he opened up his soul in his music which you can feel throughout this album which is missing from most music today. I liked his nostalgia/ultra mixtape but i LOVE the progression this album has shown in him & his music and for that im truly a fan & admire his artistry as a whole. I finally got the chance to see him live and what made me love the dude more is that he made you feel the records even more and sounded just as good or even better than the actual record. From one music lover to another, this is a grounbreaking album that has set the bar for REAL Music to come back.

  120. Scott says:

Channel Orange is the black sheep of 2012 albums. In a music industry where all the music is the same and blends together Frank Ocean dares to be different and sticks out with this album. Frank delivers his wise message passionately in such a way that when he goes into topics that other “musicians” nowadays seem to have played out (such as money, drugs, and sex) he handles them in a different manner that separates his music from the norm. Every song has great depth and is full of emotion. I could listen to this album for days getting intertwined in Frank’s amazing story telling. Maybe I haven’t been listening to Frank Ocean as long as some of the other commenters, but it doesn’t matter. Even if Channel Orange was the first thing I heard by Frank Ocean I would still love him and his music as much as I do now. Perhaps my favorite thing about the album is the fact that the music is so good it allows even extremely homophobic listeners to accept his bisexuality and accept him as an exceptional artist. This is an album for all ages, shapes, sizes, and colors. There is a track on there for everyone to relate to. In fact, I often catch myself singing the lyrics to my favorite track “Thinking Bout You” every time I start thinking about the girl that doesn’t feel the same. Overall Channel Orange in my opinion is the best album of 2012 so far. This album has changed the way I view RnB all together. It is inspiring to me and hopefully to many others. Hopefully Frank Ocean continues to make music and tell stories like this for a long time. (email: [email protected])

  122. Drew says:

What I think about Channel Orange is it one one of the best albums I have ever heard. The reason is because talks about what is real and things that are going on in his life. He is a unique singer because he has his own voice and is in between the pop and r&b genre. Every song on the album means something different and when you put it all together it creates a story. I listen to Ocean all the time and I have to say for a first album it is amazing. He creates emotion that not very many people can do and he can turn any word into a peace of art. Channel Orange is my favorite album and I felt like I didn’t know music until I listened to this and it has made a positive impact on what I listen to. He has amazing falsettos and it is incredible how when I listen to it, it helps me to be calm and in a peaceful state of mind. The album touches on funk, electro, and moody hip hop and you can not ask for a better album. He talks about love, pain, heartbreak, and more and he makes it sound flawless. This album has made me excited for what else he has in store. He is a singer with a social consciousness that surfaces in heartbreaking detail. He turned from just a good artist to and incredible artist. In my opinion all 17 songs are perfect and you can not ask for more. This is the kind of album that anyone can listen to and enjoy. This album has put a high expection for singers and I don’t think that they can reach it. Everywhere I go I sing songs off the album and they are stuck in my head for days and I love it. I feel like I am the biggest fan of Frank Ocean. Winning this prize pack would be awesome because not only is he my favorite singer, but he is someone I look up to. My friends love this album also and the album has changed my perspective of things that go on in life in a good way. I am stoked that this album has come out and the people that produced it are brilliant. Orange is now my favorite color and I can not describe how great this album is. Channel Orange forever. The first time I heard the album was so emotional for me. I’ve been through a lot lately and by listening to the songs and lyrics, I felt some peace. I don’t know how to describe how but you can hear it by listening this album, Frank really want to reach out to his listeners, he wants to bring a message through his music. His story. He is not only a talented and ambitious singer but a man with art and musical values. Channel Orange is unique in its own way. Its real, raw and you can hear that it comes straight from the heart, soul and mind. He talks about so many thing that are discussed daily by so many, things that are so relevant for us all.

All I can say is, I thank him on behalf of many people for sharing his story through this album, its easy to talk about something, but he does it in a way that very few can. Through his music. Pure art, Frank.

  124. Sparkle says:

Being a fan since the Lonny Breaux Collection I can see how much he has grown as a artist. From the lyrics down to the beat selections, this project will go down as one of the top 5 in 2012. FO is extremely innovative, I mean who else do you know that can blend soul, jazz, electro and contemporary R&B all in one? His voice is like no other and his visuals are always dope too. I’m more of a rap fan then R&B but FO has brought me back to what I used to love and what we all miss about R&B. He takes music where others wont. With the mid-tempo drum patterns alongside his soulful voice what’s not to love.

  125. Lindsay says:

One of the first things that I believe has to be said about Channel Orange is that it can in no way be compared to nostalgia, Ultra. Channel Orange has an aura that is all it’s own. Each song tells the listeners a piece of Frank’s life, an experience that he has gone through. By the end of the album. The listener feels as if they have almost walked a day in the life of Frank Ocean. Further, I can appreciate how raw he is throughout the entirety of the album rather than taking ,into consideration what people expect him to do due to his hip hop label. He stays in a lane all his own and continues to make music that his fans enjoy while still staying true to who he really is. He is truly an amazing artist.

Would I like to win the contest and the prizes? Sure.
But I have already won by being in a free country that has given me the opportunity to love music and live through art like Channel Orange whenever I want.

  129. Wow. I Know Im Not Going To Win Due To The Fact Everybody Is Typing A Paragraph Or More But I Just Want To Share A Few Of My Thoughts. I Can Describe ‘Channel Orange’ In One Word & Thats Angelic. And That’s What I Love About It. Almost Every Song On That Album Is Like The Ocean Singing In My Ears (No Pun Intended). The Song Writing Is Phenomenal. I Love How Symphonic The Beats Are. To Me, It Adds To The Beauty Of The Songs. I, Sometimes, Catch Myself Singing Along With Frank Trying To Hit The High Notes Like He Is. The Album Is Just Perfect! But What I Really Love About ‘Channel Orange’ Is The Fact That No Matter What People Think Of Him, Frank Still Decided To Be Himself In Some Of The Songs Like ‘Bad Religion’ And ‘Forrest Gump’ And I Respect That. I Always Loved Frank Ocean’s Music And I Hope Frank Continues To Fill People’s Ears With Wonderful Music.Oh It Seems That I Have Wrote A Paragraph Also, Lol I Blame ‘Channel Orange’ For Making Me Write So Much. From the onset, Frank immerses us with his sweet baritone voice and takes us on a journey of love, emotion, drugs and heartbreak. The delivery on the album is also exceptional especially his use of anecdotes. We can tell that Frank has really grown not only in his music, but also as a Man from his earlier work. There is really not much else to say but this album is a classic, in my opinion that transcends all genres of music. It is raw talent and emotion at its best. Kudos to Frank on an excellent job

The reason I love Channel Orange is because of his genuine attempt to create art from HIS vision. Alot of people try to compare his album to his mixtape. I think Channel Orange has a completely different sound than Nostailga, Ultra. I love Frank Ocean because he reminds me of myself. I 17 years old and i grew up in the South like he did. I also struggle with similar things he wrote about in his letter on tumblr. His music has gotten me through alot of things and made me proud to be who I am. P.S. Recently, my headphones broke and I can’t afford to buy any. Everything I just wrote came from my heart and I hope you make the right choice. ([email protected])

    I REALIZED

I realized that love isn’t about meeting someone and getting
    to like them over time
I realized that Music is a form of love
Listening to your music doesn’t only stimulate my ear drums

    Tantalize my soul or

    Embody my spirit

But holds my heart and repairs it from injury

My heart has been sick, very sick…..shit it was on life
    support

But some way your music was its second chance at life

As your articulate vocals embrace the hypnotizing
    instrumentals

It doesn’t only arouse my private parts

    Or stilmulate my soul

But make my heart erupt with joy

Your music touches hearts all across the world

Giving them the chance to live again

    To breathe again

To repair from the lack of abuse other music has done to it

    Love is not you

    Love is not me

    Love is the music
You didn’t change only the world

But you changed how we love

    And we love you

    Music is You

    Music is love

    WE LOVE YOU FRANK OCEAN

    Love your fan- @ladye85
