The 2013 Art Basel has made its way to Miami Beach for a fun-filled weekend. The connection between art and hip hop is becoming increasingly tighter and it’s nice to see the culture expand in this way. We’re currently on day 3 of the 4-day weekend, and a lot has already gone down.

As we reported earlier in the week, Kanye West brought along Kim K and baby North to this year’s Art Basel, where Kanye teamed up with frequent collaborator Vanessa Beecroft for a group show. With Kanye’s recent promises to become the next biggest thing in fashion, events like these make it seem all the more possible. Check out the adorable North West after the break.

Nas and Busta Rhymes were also present at this year’s Art Basel event, and during his performance, Nas took the time to give a tribute to the late Nelson Mandela(see above). At a separate event, Kendrick Lamar made his way to South Beach where he put on a dope, private performance earlier in the week. Pictures can be found after the break.

On Thursday, Smile Design Gallery teamed up with Raekwon and Masta Killa of the Wu to celebrate the 20th anniversary of 36 Chambers. According to the305, the gallery sold pieces of art from the likes of Liu Bolin, Mr. Brainwash, RETNA, Miya Ando, Lina Viktor and Fab 5 Freddy. The proceeds will benefit the Children of Staten Island.
