Last summer, Juicy J announced that he’d be awarding a $50,000 scholarship and got a lot of attention because the word got around that the recipient of the award would be decided based on one’s twerking ability. J later took the opportunity to explain the actual rules of the contest.

“You don’t have to be able to twerk to win this $50,000 dollar scholarship.” J told to XXL.  “Just submit a video telling me “Why do you deserve this $50,000 dollar scholarship?” It’s not all about dancing and twerking. It’s about your personality. So I want people to know that if you want to twerk that’s on you but you don’t have to do that to win that scholarship. You can just send me a video of showing me how smart you are or what your goals in life are for me to give you this money. It’s for people who use their brains, too.”

The winner has been announced and, get this, she didn’t even twerk. Apparently all she did was actually read the instructions of the scholarship and took the opportunity to explain why she felt she was deserving of the award.

Congratulations to Zaire Holmes, a mother studying Biology who plans to use the money to help pay for lab expenses.

I was the runner up and I didn’t twerk either! I keep seeing posts that are making it look like she was the one and only that didn’t twerk! She’s not. I also read the rules and regulations and knew not to twerk! But the video didn’t give me any credit of that at all!
