Jhené Aiko is continuing her successful 2014 by snagging a new deal with BMI for representation of the public performances of her music. “I’m excited about joining the BMI family. Looking forward to the future,” Jhené said in a statement.

“Jhené Aiko has brought a new and fresh sound to music,” said Catherine Brewton, BMI VP of writer/publisher relations, in a statement. “Her smooth voice and compelling lyrics are the perfect combination to fill a void in popular music”

With her debut album on the way, timing couldn’t be any better for this deal to arrive. The new representation deal simply means that BMI will foresee all entities that full under the umbrella of public performances.

The Def Jam signee recently appeared on Hot 97’s Summer Jam festival stage performing hits like “The Worst” and “Bed Peace” alongside Childish Gambino. Before Gambino exited the stage, the two shared a quick embrace and kiss. After a windy set, the singer-songwriter sounded off on those who weren’t satisfied with her performance.

Look out for the Los Angeles songstress at the 2014 BET Awards where she is nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Centric Award and the Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award. The BET Awards are set to air June 29.
