Jennifer Hudson is back and confirms that fact with a new album on the way. The follow up to 2011’s I Remember Me, the crooner is readying her third album titled JHUD.

“It’s different expressions of me as an artist, a girl, a music lover,” she said of the title, which is derived from her nickname, in an interview with WPGC in Washington, D.C.

JHUD’s 70-inspired theme boasts tracks like the Pharrell-produced, T.I.-assisted “Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel), Timbaland-produced “Walk It Out” and R-Kelly assisted “It’s Your World” which she debuted at this year’s BET Awards.

With this album she intends to showcase her strength as an artist. “Earlier in my career I was just a soloist singing other people’s songs,” she told V magazine. “Now I really want to be an artist. I want to lift the people up, have fun, create a moment. I have my own visions that I want to bring to life.”

JHUD is due out mid-August but get a taste of what to expect with a few snippets on the following page.
