Jay-Z Sued For Failing To Pay Workers Compensation

Jay-Z is facing a new lawsuit this time for “gambling with his employee’s health and safety.”

TMZ reports that Jigga is being sued by The Workers Compensation Board Of New York.

According to the board, the music mogul failed to pay workers’ compensation insurance for three months in 2009. This is an extremely serious matter as if anything had happened within those three months a serious lawsuit could have been taken against Jay-Z by one or multiple of his employees. Using services such as Baird Quinn LLC, or ones similar, he would have needed to answer the claim and take it from there. All employers need to have workers’ compensation in place for anyone they employ, it is a necessity and should not be taken lightly, as Jay-Z will now have to understand.

The insurance was said to cover domestic employees in Jay-Z’s house including his cooks, maids, and drivers, and anyone else who was under his employ at the time of this happening.

The board has since sued to collect $18,000 in fines for the transgression and a court has ordered Jay-Z to pay. Hopefully, he will pay in due course and learn his lesson from this issue, as otherwise, he could be faced with another workers compensation lawsuit from one of this many employees. By doing this, he will be setting in place a better understanding and a solid paper trail for future needs, as well as ensuring that he is adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.

A source tells TMZ that the entire thing was a simple “clerical error.”

He’ll pay it and move on. It isn’t that big of a deal. 18K, even though, you don’t want to separate yourself from your money. It’s like 18 dollars to me.
