cano-jay-karen-civilFulfilling one of his many roles, Jay Z put on his sports agent hat as he secretly met with the New York Mets about signing free agent slugger and Roc Nation Sports signee Robinson Cano.

The New York Post reports, that Hov met with Mets COO Jeff Wilpon, general manager Sandy Alderson and assistant general manger John Ricco to bring Cano from the Bronx to Queens. The meeting was also reportedly initiated by Jay and the Roc Nation team.

Cano, who played for the New York Yankees this past year, is looking for a contract of 10 years at a grand total of $300 million. If received Cano would set the bar for the largest contract in MLB history, topping another Yankee in Alex Rodriguez.

Various reports state that there is no current interest from the Mets or the cross town Yankees to sign Cano to that large of an amount but imagine what netting a contract of that size for a client would do for Jay’s reputation as an agent.
