Roc Nation takes over The Final Call with both Jay Z and Jay Electronica gracing the cover for this week’s edition. Just two weeks after making headlines for an incredible performance at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, the two are mentioned in the article “God’s Influence In Hip Hop.”

“Seeing Jay Electronica at the 2014 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival in full Fruit of Islam uniform took many back to a time when it was not uncommon to hear consciousness raising lyrics coming from the most prominent and popular rappers,” the article states. “It was a major demonstration of the potential and the future of Hip Hop and it was a major public representation of Islam, said Dr. Wesley Muhammad, who has been a close friend and confidante of Jay Electronica’s for many years and was intricately involved in the planning and execution of his July 12 performance surrounded by the Allah Team, Lions Out the Cage and members of the Fruit of Islam from Muhammad’s Mosque No.7 and 7C.”

This story comes just a week after Minister Louis Farrakhan penned a letter defending Jay Electronica’s wear of the respected Fruit of Islam uniform during his festival set. “I am very proud of the Fruit of Islam (F.O.I.) and the Believers who stood with Brother Jay Electronica as he delivered what he delivered to the people gathered in Brooklyn at The Hip Hop Festival in New York,” he wrote.
