Pink-haired urban pop singer Vali is focused on carving out her own sound while getting her music right to enlist big-name features. With collaborations from Juicy J, “Bon Voyage,” and Taylor Gang’s sergeant Wiz Khalifa, “Dimes,”  already under her belt, the New York City-born artist is keeping busy between hair appointments and studio sessions.

With a well-decorated resumé – including performing in Hairspray and West Side Story in Europe, singing back-up for Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and The Eagles’ Joe Walsh all while juggling her pursuit of a music-theater degree at the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut – Vali always found time to squeeze in her own recording sessions.

Now, the “Dimes” songstress is more than focused on crafting her own space in the music atmosphere. We chatted with Vali (an Audrey Hepburn fanatic!) about why “Dimes Acoustic” is her favorite song and why she enjoys covering other artist’s music. – Alley Olivier
