What’s beef? Well, according to Biggie back in the 90s, it was when you didn’t feel safe to walk the streets at night, or go to sleep comfortably, etc. But in hip-hop, well, it’s simply when a rapper doesn’t get along with another rapper — and they make sure to let each other know that. Sometimes that disdain makes its way to the wax in the form of an official diss and other times, specifically in the last few years, artists will take jabs at each other, or engage in an argument via social media. Beef is cool, shit, it’s actually pretty entertaining, but when it’s happening within your own clique, it’s not always a great thing.

Over the years, dating back to the NWA days, we’ve seen a slew of internal beefs from Hov and Beanie Siegel, to the dismantling and re-patching of G-Unit, to most recently with Tyga and YMCMB. Sometimes it’s fixable, like the G-Unit situation, but other times it’s a done deal.

Take a trip down memory lane to see some of the most memorable internal beefs in the history of hip-hop and weigh in with your thoughts.
