All you hip-hop heads better get ready. It’s been almost two decades since the death of the legendary Notorious B.I.G., and while we know a lot about his music and life, only few knew him on a very personal level.

Funkmaster Flex is teaming up with Simon & Schuster and Karen Hunter to release a book of untold stories about the great Biggie Smalls. From his days growing up in Brooklyn and freestyling on the streets, to signing with Bad Boy and taking over the rap game worldwide, there’s a lot of stories in between that could open our eyes to the rap master.

One of the first excerpts of the book by Flex reveals that Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya” was actually meant as an intro for Mary J. Blige’s album:

“Uptown/MCA said it was too hard. The song in its original form had a verse from Big, Keith Murray and LL Cool J, though LL never did his verse. The song still exists!”

Another brief excerpt details how B.I.G. and Nas met back in the day:

“I introduced Big to Nas on my block in Brooklyn. Nas came by to visit my sister, and I went and brought Big to the house. Nas had Illmatic out at the time… “

We don’t have a release date just yet, but stay tuned for some more details to come.
