Arsenio Hall says that before he even had his show one of the acts that he was planning out was El DeBarge, who he considers a little brother. DeBarge came on to the show and received praise from the audience and Arsenio alike for his performance of huge hits he had throughout his career as he talked about how he’s overcoming his past struggles with drug abuse and how he’s blessed to be in his current position.

In case you didn’t know, artists have been sampling DeBrage forĀ years and if you don’t recognize the songs by title you’ll surely recognize their samples. Like the piano ballad in 2Pac’s “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” that originally comes from “A Dream” and a long list of others. In the interview with Arsenio, DeBarge talks about the one sample that he hasn’t liked so far is one where he thought was great, but could have used his sample a lot longer.

Watch the interview below that finishes off with a short performance of “Rhythm of the Night.”

Head to the next page for some nostalgia as El DeBarge performs two medleys, one of “How Can You Love Me” and “All This Lose” and a final one of “Time Will Reveal” and “I Like It.”
