Taylor Swift is the latest pop star to enlist some African American women twerking and is being called out for it. Her “Shake It Off” video features dance from all genres including ballet and break dancing. Some fans on Twitter called her out for appropriating black culture and slammed her as a racist.
Earl Sweatshirt chimed in with his opinions on Twitter saying, “haven’t watched the taylor swift video and I don’t need to watch it to tell you that it’s inherently offensive and ultimately harmful.”
The rapper continued, “perpetuating black stereotypes to the same demographic of white girls who hide their prejudice by proclaiming their love of the culture.”
“Shake It Off” is set to appear on the singer’s upcoming album 1989. Watch the video above, do you agree with Earl?
Bruh she did like 6 other genres of dance in their why we black people have to be such cry babies Jesus
So because I am a white girl, if I “claim” to love the black culture I am a racisit?
I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you. Earl’s just being an idiot.
No. I love you too baby boo.
i get that racial tensions are on another level cause of pieces of shit police but i really dont see how she is “hiding her prejudice by proclaiming their love of the culture”
Yeh, maybe she just loves everyone and wanted her video to be diverse.
Yeah this is ridiculous. Pretty sure she’s saying she doesn’t know how to dance like anyone else, besides herself. (Huh) Let’s stop (Huh) being stupid.
