Billboard Breakdown – July 11
by Karen
We missed last week, so in the interest of never taking steps backwards, we’ll just blame it on Independence Day.
1. Chris Brown – Fortune – 135,000 – This isn’t too surprising seeing as how Brown’s career is peaking once again. That said, I expect another controversial R&B crooner to be #1 next week.
12. MMG – Self Made, Vol. 2 – 35,000 – This brings the totally to roughly 133,000. As far as “big” singles, there doesn’t seem to be too many of those even though “Black Magic” is a highly underrated Meek track. All systems are dedicated towards the impending release of God Forgives, I Don’t at this point though.
14. Flo-Rida – Wild Ones – 31,000 – I figured this guy had a new album out seeing as how I heard like two new songs from him on the radio the other day. I have on concrete evidence to back this claim up, but I’m pretty sure Flo-Rida is going to make his money off singles sales and live performances.
34. Drake – Take Care – 15,000 – At 1.8M and climbing, all I really care about at this point is new music. And since OVO Fest is on August 5, I highly expect to hear some new music from Aubrey very, very soon. (Don’t make me look like an idiot, Drake.)
45. Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – 11,000 – While platinum seems out of the question at this point, she seems to be doing fine off singles and touring. I wouldn’t mind a video for “I Am Your Leader” as long as she can get both Ross and Cam.
68. Big K.R.I.T. – Live From The Underground – 6,800 – Just get Krizzle to 100K.
105. Prodigy – H.N.I.C. 3 – 3,900 – Damn. For what it’s worth, the original H.N.I.C. still goes.
179. Curren$y – The Stoned Immaculate – 2,400 – Spitta’s already moved on to new projects, which isn’t totally surprising. He’s probably going to drop three new ones before the year is out and that’s not including Cigarette Boats.
