I happened to be watching MTV Jams when a commerical for a new program airing this fall called The World of Jenks. It interested me mainly because of the award winning creator – Andrew Jenks.

I was intrigued by the premsis of his new show. Every week Jenks would follow the links of a complete stranger totally immersing himself in their lives, good and bad. One of those strangers is Maino. Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t seen the clip of Brooklyn’s Bully making Jenks the latest victim in his hand of five-finger-greeting (slaps), but yeah, it gets that real. When asked why they decided to give the 24 year old filmmaker a show, could not deny his storytelling ability.

“Andrew Jenks is a gifted filmmaker who captures and uncovers unique slices of American life by fully immersing himself in the reality of each situation so we can live these moments through his eyes,” said Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV. “This creator-driven reality project allows its star to shape each episode in front of and behind the camera bringing a new voice and storytelling style to the genre.”

“MTV has always represented the youth generation and I think this docu-series can capture real stories about young people from all walks of life: from living on the streets with a homeless person to living in a war zone with soldiers,” said Andrew Jenks.

We’ve all known for years MTV has pretty much abandoned the “M,” but it is nice to see they intend to incorporate quality programming into their fall line up. The series airs immediately following the MTV VMA’s on September 12.
