Yella Beezy is a product of Dallas, Texas’ Oak Cliff neighborhood who has achieved success well enough over the years.

The Dallas native prides himself on staying humble. Raised by a single mother since age 12, the 29-year-old took to football and basketball as an escape from the gangland streets of Southwest Dallas, Texas. After high school, Yella Beezy found success as a rapper with his 2014 single “No Man” and 2015 single “Trap In Designer” netting him millions of streams, transforming his career from a local mixtape rapper into a recognized talent.

Fast forward to 2021, Yella Beezy continues to evolve as a Hip-Hop artist, a father and being the best version of himself. In 2020, he was highly inspired by the BLM movement, which resulted in him voting for the first time in 2020 and encouraged others in his community as well. He’s also been vocal on social media about the need to support black women and all the women in his life who’ve supported him over the years. Most recently, he dropped his latest singles “Is You F*ckin” and “STAR” with fellow-Texas native Erica Banks.

We recently hung out with Yella Beezy for our latest episode of “Welcome To My Neighborhood” on #CivilTV. In this episode, he took around his hometown, talked about the lessons he’s learned growing up in Dallas, becoming a father, his music career, working on his upcoming album, Blank Checc, and much more.

The significant places we visited with Yella Beezy:

  • Big T Plaza, where he sold mixtapes growing up.
  • His  favorite and go-to tattoo shop/artist.
  • His local high school that he attended.
