Civil TV: Welcome Home Bobby Shmurda
by Lupe LLerenas
Welcome home Bobby Shmurda!
The Brooklyn rapper was released from New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision on Tuesday, February 23, after serving six years behind bars.
To celebrate his release, Karen Civil and the Civil TV team spent the day with Shmurda as he enjoyed his first long awaited family dinner with his mom, his first interview with GQ magazine and a private welcome home party with family and friends.
Shmurda also opened up about his fight to keep a positive mindset and the responsibility he has for young fans.
“It was 2016, I was in the box,” he told GQ. “A six year-old girl wrote to me, she said I was her favorite rapper. That just let me know the kids are watching me, and I have to be a role model.”
