Tekashi 6ix9ine being openly testifying and being labeled as an informant sent social media into an uproar a few months ago. Now that things are coming to a close in the case, Prosecutors are showing their gratitude for the rapper being such a great informant.

They’re asking the judge for leniency on his sentence. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the U.S Attorney in the Southern District of New York lay out the reasons for why they are asking for a reduced sentence for 6ix9ine’s case. One of them being that his testimony was “incredibly significant and extremely useful” in prosecuting and convicting two members of the Nine Trey Bloods.

The other reason was because the prosecutors acknowledge that his testimony put him and his family in danger and that 6ix9ine’s family would require protection at all times.

6ix9ine took a plea deal after pleading guilty to racketeering, firearms offenses, conspiracy, narcotics trafficking, and other crimes. 6ix9ine agreed to be a cooperating witness to avoid a mandatory minimum sentence of 47 years in prison.

The sentence reduction will be ultimately up to the judge after hearing the prosecutions case for a lighter sentence.
