Say it ain’t so! The controversial but very talented, Azealia Banks announced her decision to retire from music Sunday night on Instagram. The Harlem native rapper claims that due to other artists emulating her sound and style, she will “leave the crumbs on the floor and let the eco-system do what it does.” This wouldn’t be her first time announcing her retirement, but it seems like she has made up her mind.

“Azealia Banks is leaving the forest so you tree a*s b*tches can fall in silence,” Banks concluded.

Now for those who may not be aware of Ms. Banks’ music and only know of her messy side, allow me to enlighten you. In 2012, her international single, “212” was a classic hit which made her become a mainstream artist.

Besides, music Azealia Banks has launched a few business ventures like an organic soap line, clothing line, and other creative projects. Perhaps the retirement is serious but I’m pretty sure we will still hear from Azealia, whether it’s controversial or entrepreneurial.

After six years of the fan-favorite single, “Yung Rapunxel,” she released a 30-minute sequel titled Yung Rapunxel Pt. 2 in September. Banks’ last album, Slay Z was released in 2017 which features Nina Sky and Rick Ross.
