On Saturday (Nov. 16) rapper Future and his FreeWishes Foundation hosted their 8th annual Golden Wishes Gala which honored Metro Atlanta Seniors and supports efforts to help those in the Atlanta community. Treating over 750 seniors to an early Thanskgiving dinner at the Georgia Aquarium in the Ocean’s Ballroom, the seniors dressed up in their finest attire for the eventful evening.

Future joined alongside Stephanie Jester, his mother and FreeWishes Foundation co-founder, and his sister Tia-Wilborn Anderson, in honoring and presenting a surprise outstanding community service award to Emma Jean Boyd, Future’s grandmother. Tia then joined her rap star brother for the crowning of The Golden Wishes Gala 2019 King and Queen.

Live jazz music was put in place for the seniors and provided by the Douglas Whatley Jr. Band with hits spun on the one’s and two’s by DJ Bluue. A performance by legendary Jazz and R&B vocalist, Jean Carne, wrapped up the warm and fulfilling evening. Guest speaker, Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall spoke on her vision for the future of Atlanta seniors and “the progress being made to ensure that they are a priority to the city.”

The guests were able to learn more about Future’s FreeWishes foundation, their ongoing community events, and ways to get involved. When Future and his family created the foundation nine years ago, they wanted to serve seniors because seniors are the gatekeepers of the family and often tend to be forgotten. “We’re blessed to have the resources to help and support our senior community and we are thankful for what they’ve done to pave the way for us,” Future said in a statement provided by FreeWishes.
