This news shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. The Hip Hop mogul, Jay Z has been selflessly donating his money to charity for years. Since 2003, the Shawn Carter Foundation has contributed towards the progress of African American youth. Earlier this year in April, the foundation teamed up with Toyota for the HBCU (Historically Black College) Bus Tour.

The Shawn Carter Foundation‘s core mission is to “help individuals facing socio-economic hardships further their education at institutions of higher learning.”

With over $6 million raised at the Shawn Carter Foundation Gala on Saturday, November 16th, Jay Z proves again, he is for the people. Scholars in need will have the opportunity to further his or her education. According to the SCSF website, “the grant can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, lab fees, travel and select costs of living”.

This one-night-only event for the Shawn Carter Foundation had A-list donors and celebrities who contributed their funds to the charity. Past events like Made In America, On The Run Tour, and Beyonce’s charity, #BeyGood all benefitted the Shawn Carter Foundation.
