Madam Tussads Las Vegas is immortalizing Aaliyah in Wax. Madam Tussads is a major tourist attraction in cities around the world displaying wax figures of famous people. Other figures included in the Las Vegas location are Beyonce, TuPac, Drake, and Lenny Kravitz.

At the Thursday reveal of the iconic artist’s wax figure, Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton had the honor of revealing the piece of art. In an interview with Vibe, Haughton shared that this project was a collaborative effort between the family and Madam Tussads. The unveiling came just days before the 18th anniversary of the plane crash that killed the music icon.

The memorialization features the wax figure wearing leather pants and a a metallic bra from her look in the 2000 music video of “Try Again.” According to Madame Tussauds Las Vegas studio manager Adam Morey, the decision to pick her “Try Again” look was an easy one. He tells Vibe that it has “the sexy, edgy, timeless vibe we try to imbue in the Las Vegas attraction within all our creative choices.

Despite the understably emotional process throughout the creation of the memorialization, the wax figure serves as a immortalization and opportunity for fans to pay further tribute. In Aaliyah’s short 22 years of life, she was able to leave a lasting impact that will continue to influence generation after generation.
