Update: Jermaine Dupri sets the record straight on V-103 in Atlanta that Jay-Z DID NOT tell him to turn down a deal with the NFL. See what JD has to say below:

Jay-Z‘s newly announced partnership with the NFL started a lot of controversy and has proven to be the hottest topic as of now.

The dialogue surrounding the rapper’s new business move is mainly focused once not the league’s problematic relationship with black players and Jay’s public statements damning the organization, and declining his invite to perform at the Super Bowl. 

Shortly after the news broke about the deal, Grammy award-winning and songwriter/producer Bryan Michael Cox revealed that Jermaine Dupri was offered a deal similar to Hov’s, but the rapper personally contacted Dupri to tell him to decline the deal (to co-produce the Super Bowl) and now Jay is signed.  Check out the conversation with Cox below:
