Jay Z may be laying groundwork to become the owner of an NFL team. Sources told TMZ that Jay will have “significant ownership interest” in a NFL team. According to TMZ Sports, Jay wants to become a part owner of a team because he’s a huge fan of the league, and wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL.

This news of Jay becoming part owner of a NFL sports franchise comes as an extension of Roc Nation’s partnership with the sports league. The media has been trying to make sense of Jay Z’s deal with the NFL since the announcement was made Tuesday (Aug 13). And with this news of him becoming an owner of a NFL team, questions rise about whether Jay Z will be able to manage/recruit players if he owns a team. Jay Z also has experience with team ownership. The hip-hop mogul was a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets before he sold his stake in 2013.

It’s still unclear what NFL team Jay plans to own or when the deal will be finalized, but according to sources “it’s going to be happening real soon”.
