Missy Elliott To Receive MTV’s Video Vanguard Award

With a teaser, and fans already anticipating the achievement for Miss. Elliott since Rihanna’s 2016 win of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 2016 we might see the anticipation coming to an end.
Today MTV released a video on Twitter where the graphics are mimicking Elliott’s 2002 hit “Work
Variety has learned exclusively, where she will perform live at the awards show for the first time in 16 years.
“Missy’s impact on the music landscape is indelible,” said Bruce Gillmer, MTV International co-brand head and Viacom music and music talent head. “Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched.”
Though the award is still technically called the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, MTV refers to it simply as the Video Vanguard Award in its video teaser for the VMAs.
The VMAs will air on MTV at 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, and will be hosted by comedian, actor and author Sebastian Maniscalco, live from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
