Quavo Partners With Imagine Entertainment to Create Atlanta-Inspired Animated Series
by Marquin Stanley
Quavo is officially collaborating with Imagine co-founder Brian Grazer to launch an all-new animated franchise series for kids age 8-12. Set to be a “transformative franchise” in the world of animation, the new series finds Imagine’s Marginal Mediaworks, Imagine Kids+Family, Quality Control Music, and Motown in a new partnership to create the show.
In the official press release from Thursday, Quavo said, “I have long seen how hip-hop as well as our music really impacts kids.” He continues, “I’ve loved animation my whole life whether on TV or in movies and I wanted my first jump into this premium content world to be a show just for kids. It will definitely reflect the creativity, love, and families in and around the NAWF side of Atlanta where we grew up.”
Quavo and Grazer will serve as executive producers along with seven others on the series. Pierre “Pee” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee of Quality Control have teamed up with Brian Nolan and Ryan Allingham of Capitol Music Group and Dan Altmann to produce the project.
According to Complex, Coach K says “all kids will be seeing themselves” in the new animation, which is what he believes is the key factor in Quality Control’s new partnership. Coach K also said, “When I was growing up there was very little media that had brown and black skinned kids feeling heard or seen and the ones that did stood out and served as a crucial roadmap through our childhoods.” He continues, “I’m about inclusive stories that address all kinds of situations that kids of ALL ethnic and financial backgrounds experience and to give them a common tool to learn and grow.”
The new project already has an unique and talented team supporting it. While executive producer Quavo continues to rise in the music industry and influence hip-hop culture, Grazer has an incredible background as the Oscar winner produced 8 Mile, American Gangster, Apollo 13, Empire, and several other projects.
