Coming To America 2: Rick Ross, Wesley Snipes, and More Joins Sequel

As a plethora of films from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s make their comebacks, the most talked about one is Coming To America 2. The 1988 original comedy is one of the most favorite movies in the average Black family home. Coming To America, is indeed a classic which fueled a number of successful careers for the cast involved.

If you haven’t seen the first one, please grab someone’s DVD now.

Some of the original cast will be returning like Arsenio Hall as Akeem’s best friend, Semmi, James Earl Jones as the father, and Paul Bates as Akeem’s bodyguard/servant, Oha. The sequel will feature two other familiar celebrities: Wesley Snipes and Rick Ross. Snipes will play a character named General Izzi, a ruler of the neighboring nation and Ross will play a new role that has not been announced yet. According to The Collider, there’s been talks of Teyana Taylor and Michael Blackson also joining the sequel.

Coming To America 2 will follow Akeem returning to the U.S. in order to find a son he didn’t know he had. The thought of it already sounds funny.

The sequel will be directed by Craig Brewer, who is best known for Hustle & Flow. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is set to be in theaters December 2020 produced by Kevin Misher, Kenya Barris and Eddie Murphy.
