On Wednesday, a class action lawsuit filed against Ja Rule regarding the failure of Fyre Festival was dismissed in a federal court. Although show attendees alleged the rapper falsely promoted the event, Ja Rule was cleared of any wrongdoing on his behalf in promoting the festival.

Judge Kevin Castel made the ruling that Ja Rule did not know that the event would be a disaster according to New York Daily News. Castel also wrote, “Ja Rule was a participant in organizing or promoting a large-scale event. There is no assertion that the festival when first conceived or introduced to the public was intended not to go forward or that the defendant intended not to perform by organizing the advertised amenities and accommodation.”

Ja Rule later went onto Instagram to blast TMZ for reporting that he “came up short” in his battle with the Fyre Festival lawsuit. In Ja Rule’s post, he also put a TMZ reporter on blast as he posted a text message from the reporter sending the rapper congratulations while also asking for a comment.

Although Ja Rule is in the clear as far as the aftermath of the disastrous festival, Billy McFarland, CEO of Fyre Media, is currently serving a six year prison bid for his actions. In Manhattan Federal Court, McFarland not only pleaded guilty to 2 counts of wire fraud, he also confessed to getting investors to pour over $26 million into his company using false documents.
