Africa’s Biggest Streaming Platform Boomplay Signs Deal With Warner Music

Boomplay, one of Africa’s biggest streaming platforms has signed a multi-year licensing deal with Warner Music, according to Billboard.

This huge deal will now make over one million songs from Warner Music available to Boomplay users in various African countries including Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Uganda.

In a statement, Boomplay CEO Joe He says, ““We want every music lover in the region to be able to access any song or video, anytime and wherever they are.  We are looking forward to a successful partnership and business continuation with WMG in what are truly exciting times for the African Music Industry.”

Founded in 2015, Boomplay has established itself as Africa’s most popular streaming service, gaining now 42 million users and that doesn’t count subscriptions. In November of 2018, Universal became the first music company to partner with the African streaming service.
