Remember when Kanye West went on his infamous rant about being “mentally enslaved for 400 years”? Well now the ‘Ye’ rapper is making sure that he gets free from his contract from EMI.

Sadly, in his EMI contract, it has been newly revealed that the rapper cannot retire. While in the center of a huge lawsuit with the publishing company, EMI has stated that West will “remain actively involved in writing, recording and producing” for the company. The publishing company then went into detail stating that West must “at no time during the Term” retire from those roles.

West’s latest suit is no stranger to the music industry. Artists like Rita Ora, Courtney Love, and 30 Seconds to Mars have all made similar arguments against the company, which was documented in the band’s 2012 film, Artifact.
