As some may not know, owning and buying exotic creatures as pets is allowed in many countries. However, the laws in the United States require owners to have proper permits to own an exotic animal. Chris Brown clearly missed that requirement, as his facing charges for owning a pet monkey.

According to TMZ, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office is charging Brown with two counts of owning a restricted species without a permit. The violations could lead to a maximum sentence of 6 months in jail. In 2018 Breezy brought home the baby capuchin monkey named Fiji and posted pictures of his daughter playing with it on his social media.

Soon after the post, Brown was forced to give up the monkey after multiple people reported him to the authorities. Now as 2018 concludes, charges have finally been filed. Brown is due in court on February 6, 2019.
