We’re back at it with new Civil Selects for November! These rising artists blend the best in contemporary and alternative new wave R&B. Check them out below and let us know what you think.

Artist: Layton Greene

Track: Myself

Hot Take: 19-year old viral sensation Layton Greene shot to digital prominence after covering Kodak Black’s ‘Roll In Peace’. The St. Louis singer sticks to her R&B guns on ‘Myself’ even interpolating Kelly Price’s ‘You Should’ve Told Me’.

Artist: Devin Tracy

Track: For Me

Hot Take: The Florida native soulfully croons over boom bap R&B weaving an intricate story about love and loss. The track is lifted from his Black Label EP with Soulection.

Artist: Narissa

Track: Next 2 U

Hot Take: Narissa floats over the instrumental looped track that goes from sparse to a one-man band in seconds. Just getting her start in 2017, the LA artist has two projects on all platforms including ‘Long Story, Short’. Check out ‘Breathe Hard’.

Artist: Brandon Banks

Track: Blue

Hot Take: The up and coming singer-songwriter navigates unpredictable emotions and circumstances on ‘Blue’. The lo-fi track straddles the alternative line but stays true to its R&B core. The hook is bound to get stuck in your head, “stuck in the blue”.

Artist: Iyla

Track: Juice

Hot Take: LA-based songstress Iyla, pushes the envelope in her Alt-R&B sound with ‘Juice’ with bright and vibrant arrangements and billowing bass lines. The video for the song even takes the track to new heights, watch it here.
