Migos standout Quavo is preparing to drop his solo project, but just before the release on Friday, he stopped by GQ for a cover story and photo shoot.

the 27-year-old rapper talked about writing Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Everything Is Love paean “APESHIT” along will many other accomplishments and goals for his career.

“I went crazy. I called the family, called my brothers,” he recalls of finding out that Bey and Jay wanted his song. “Now that’s most definitely a moment…That was an accomplishment. Just showing that our music is actually really, really good. They’re the best at what they do, so for them to record what I recorded is dope.”

GQ later asked the Migos rapper if he believed that creating his own project would allow him to explore things that didn’t really fit on Migos records. Quavo responded, “Nah, everything I do on my album I can do with the boys. We’re just trying something new. I feel like with the boys, it’s bigger—super, super, super bigger moments. If I make myself a great artist by doing this, it only makes our group super, super huge. It makes the demand even bigger and better, because then we’ll be able to do a Migos concert and solo tours all in one, and that’s my dream.”

Quavo even shared which international collaborators he believed he would work well with, and it looks like he has an interest in crossing over to the Latino side.

“A lot of Latino rappers will, because I like the way they flow. Their flow is kinda the same way as ours,” he says. Huncho also added in reggae artist to his list of potential collaborators, saying, “My voice is kinda on that side. Right now, I like Davido. That’s my guy. I’ve been rocking with him for a minute. He’s genuine.” Catch the rest of Quavo interview and photo shoot here.
