Nas took to Instagram on Thursday night to write a series of posts to his ex-wife, Kelis.

The rapper’s first post claimed that he received a phone call from Essence magazine regarding a “fictitious story” from his ex-wife. Nas said that this story was part of an ongoing smear campaign carried out by Kelis and accused her of trying to tarnish his reputation since he has joint custody of their son.

“So many absentee fathers out here and here I am being attacked by your accusations simply because i got us in court to help fix this the custody matter?” he wrote. “Why did I have to take you to court to see our son? Why when I win the joint custody (which is a win for both of us and our son […] ) why do you feel that’s an attack on you? Is it control ? Why do you need to have control over my life?”

Nas also mentioned the alleged verbal abuse toward his daughter and the physical violence towards him from Kelis. He later mentioned that he was holding back a lot of information that could be damaging to her reputation, but would rather keep it a secret in order to protect their child.

“… I’m no longer allowing you to take advantage of the fact that I did not want to respond in a manner that could affect my kids , friends or family publicly. THAT ENDS TODAY.”

Nas even addressed his rumored abusive behavior towards Kelis saying, “I do not beat women. I did not beat up my ex wife. Stop. You got beat up in court.”
