Raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan, R&B singer Queen Naija first became known as a contestant on American Idol in the early 2010s.

Following that, she gained success as a popular vlogger for her YouTube channel. On the channel, Naija (also known as Queen Sails) and her ex-husband Chris Sails would post various humorous videos. However, at the end of 2017, amid some relationship issues, she decided to focus solely on her music and released the single “Medicine.”

In April, “Medicine” reached No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100, and within a few months, the 22-year-old returned with “Karma.” And after much anticipation, in July the buzzing artist released her debut self-titled EP Queen Naija, which found similar success, entering the Billboard 200 at No. 26.

To discuss her journey and the new project, Queen Naija sat down with the KarenCivil.com team to discuss the success of her breakout singles, getting signed with Capital Records, shutting down Times Square and dealing with backlash on recent comments she’s made.

Take a look at our latest Civil TV Interview with Queen Naija below and stay tuned for much more!
