With the announcement of his new album, SwimmingMac Miller is back and in full force!

Earlier this week, the Pittsburg native stopped by Beats 1 with Zane Lowe to talk about his brand new music and debut his new single “What’s The Use.”

MAC MILLER: Pomo is the man
ZANE: Pomo is the producer for those people tapped in.
MAC MILLER: So what we did differently, he came over and we were just jamming like I’m trying out some things on the keys. He’s doing drums. He makes my chords better, whatever. However it happened and then we actually put it to the side and then Thundercat came over that night and I was like wait, could you try a bass line. Swear to God, that was the first thing he played like not even checking the notes. Not anything.
ZANE: You recorded that first thing? That’s the take?
MAC MILLER: He literally picked up the bass and that was just the first thing he naturally did.
ZANE: Baseline by Thundercat and production by Pomo. Additional production by
MAC MILLER: Dam-Funk. Syd did a background vocal part and so did Snoop. The stuff Snoop sent me was so amazing. He talks like a bunch of s*** at the end that I didn’t end up keeping but I have to listen to
ZANE: So he just sends you the whole rough track, he doesn’t cut it out or edit it or anything?
MAC MILLER: Sometimes I don’t know what I want so I’m just like Snoop, just like to talk a bunch of s*** and he’s like alright.

Last week, the 26-year-old emcee dropped “Self Care” and put out a video announcement revealing his new album would be out in a few weeks on August 3.
