Hot 97 Apologizes To Bun B Over For “Pimp C” Tweet

Social media was ablaze last night after Hot 97 mistook the legendary Bun B for his UGK partner in crime, Chad Butler better known as Pimp C who passed away in 2007. The Texas rapper was performing this weekend at HOT 97’S Summer Jam as a special guest bringing out Slim Thug and Paul Wall for “Still Tippin'” when someone posted a tweet with the caption:
“Underground Kings! Pimp C just came out with #MeganRyte.”
it got deleted but idk how you can be that clueless to even make this mistake in the first place pic.twitter.com/88XMGmwnmf

This mistake resulted in Twitter aiming shots at the account despite the tweet being deleted moments later. Unfortunately, the damage was already done. To confuse Bun B and Pimp C was not only disrespectful according to social media, it made the radio station look elementary.
Hot 97 quickly issued an apology stating:
“Earlier tonight an inadvertent tweet was sent out stating that “Pimp C was on stage with Megan Ryte.” We deeply apologize to family and friends of the late Pimp C as well as Bun B for the terrible error. We hold the legacy of Chad Lamont Butler aka Pimp C and UGK dear to our hearts & will work to keep his rich legacy alive in the future.”
The Southern Rap legend went to Instagram with a screenshot of the deleted tweet with the caption:
“Close @hot97 but no cigar…thanks to @meganryte @djenuff and @oldmanebro for having us!”
In February, Billboard announced that Bun B is gearing up to release his fifth solo studio album, Return of the Trill later this year.
