March is here and we’ve got a new wave of alternative R&B artists ready to break out with all new music this year. Check out these new sounds bound to break out for the genre.

Artist: Cautious Clay

Track: Elsewhere

Hot Take: New York native, singer-songwriter and musician Cautious Clay made his debut in 2017 with “Cold War” which quickly became a much buzzed about indie debut. “Elsewhere” sees the new artist round out his first EP “Blood Type” with a chorus of young love in the most spontaneous and free way possible.

“Fuck what they say, they living in fear.”

Artist: Ré Lxuise

Track: Show You Off

Hot Take: Ré Lxuise was the sleeper indie hit of 2017 with her popular “DM Me” EP. 2018 ushers in her first full-length project “Nostalgia: 199x”  inspired by popular 90s sounds. “Show You Off” is a standout on the project showcasing Ré’s tone and lower register on a thumping kick & downbeat.

Artist: Charlie Stardom

Track: The One For Me

Hot Take: The LA native has been hard at work this year already, from being sampled on Justine Skye‘s “You Got Me”. His first full-length project “Love By Night” is out and features “For Too Long” and one of my favorites “The One For Me”. Opening with a pulsing 808, Charlie Stardom glides his own self-professed love over drum pattern changes that sound like a heartbeat going through the motions.

Artist: Raveena

Track: I Won’t Mind

Hot Take: Slowing things down in the same vein of Sabrina Claudio‘s mellow alternative vibe, “I Won’t Mind” glows. Raveena made her R&B debut in 2017 and returns again with a gentle and warm track that sounds like more of a prayer than a lullaby. The New York based singer is poised to break out with her gauzy dream-like acoustic sound.

“I know that you don’t cry, but I won’t mind, if you do.”
