Netflix Debuts “Roxanne Roxanne” Trailer Produced by Pharrell Williams

Originally premiering last month at the Sundance Film Festival, Roxanne Roxanne chronicles the short career of one of the most feared battle MC in Queens, NY in the 80s the 14-year old Roxanne Shanté. Well on her way to becoming one of the most legendary hip-hop figures in history, the movie follows her underground ascent to notoriety and journey providing for her family, while defending herself against the dangers of the Queensbridge Projects in NYC.

Roxanne Roxanne sees Chanteé Adams cast in the lead role and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali assumes the role of her boyfriend and Nia Long as her mother. The film, co-produced by Pharrell Williams’ I Am Other and Forrest Whittaker’s Significant Productions imprint, will hit select theaters in NYC and LA starting March 23, before premiering nationwide on Netflix shortly afterwards.
